Super Jet 07 with tubbies vs 08

i have the 08 and i love it i ride the great lakes and its amazing its not just tubbies the pole is diff the pump is moved back. the hull looks the same but its 100% diff the only bad thing about it is that with the stock ride plate its really hard to disconect the pump and spin the ski. it handles too good and is very stable in rough water.

2008 superjet

Just bought 2008 stock superjet, really impressed by improved cornering and lean in turning, but hated the nose pushing hard down at high speed and very slow steering. Wound up cutting ride plate flush and trimming bond line in the back, and making a bracket on nozzle to speed up the steering, much improved. Using on a lake. I am not a great freestyle rider but, seems more playful than my 800 sxr. The 2008 and newer are very hard to find in the northwest, but mine came from lake Coeur d'alene last month. I do not think even with tubbies that the earlier models corner as well, I used to own a 1995 SJ, but sold it after buying a 1998 sxi-pro!

Was that the one on craigslist in Harrison? I thought about getting that one and selling the 07, that's actually why I started this post. I also have an SXR that I love to carve on, but I like the way the SJ feels more playful. I guess I need to just get some destroyers and see how it handles. Still one more year of production on the SJ too if I hate it and can't find a decent used 08-11. Thanks

I just want it to carve a little better. Seems like I have to relearn how to ride for the first five minutes every time I switch back and forth. How would the tubbies compromise doing tricks? Do they weigh the front end too much?

There is a big difference between the 08+ and pre 08's. My 07 doesn't carve half as good as my 2010. I can cut the corners on flat water as hard as humanly possible, and that pump will stay hooked up all the way. With my 07, I will spin out everytime if I try to cut as hard on turns as my 2010. And I'm running a stock grate on my 2010 too. The 2010 is a lot more stable than the 07, but not quite as stable as an sxr.

08 hull is more geared towards carving. That is why it has done well in the races. That said, it is not a flat water freestyle ski anymore. It is really agressive and to get all the benifits you really have to ride very aggressive.
