08+ quick steer nozzle adapter

I want to get the steering on my 2017 SJ up to pre-08 standards.

Are these nozzle adapters any good or are they just a cheap band-aid and I need to just swap the cable to a 2007? I'm ok with the fab work for a cable bracket but if this works it is a lot easier.

KP Freeride out of New Zealand makes one.

I found an eBay seller selling them for $50. They say on the inner-most position it is even quicker than pre-08. It looks like it would need a different rod end to get a shorter stud on the ball.

Would this hold up or will it wear the plastic over time or break the tab on the plastic nozzle? Hoping someone has experience with it (good or bad).

totally unnecessary piece in my opinion.
I just grind the gusset off and drill the hole closer to the body.
you could make that thing in about 5 minutes , with a free scrap from tap plastics.
i'm not sure what that set screw bolt with the jam nut does.
looks like it pushes against the bottom gusset just to take up the side to side slop.
i dont like it...........

I also wondered about that set screw bolt. I asked and they do not require drilling the plastic so it is just pushing against the housing to take up some slop. Maybe I could make one and use the through bolt and replace the set screw with epoxy.

Do you have a photo of one you modified? Do you have a good feel on how far in to move the lever point? The only concern I have is you only get one shot, swiss cheezing the plastic would weaken it.

On the bright side a nozzle is only $67 and half the cost of a steering cable.
