08 sj pole on a 98 sj?

i havent been here for quite some time, glad to be back. about 10 years ago , i purchased a 98 sj haul and started acquiring parts to build a usable ski. than life happened and the build got put on hold. im now trying to complete it. while collecting parts back then i got an 08 pole on ebay. not realizing the pole was different i purchased a pre 08 steering cable. can i use it or do i need to get a 08+ cable? any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Yes you can, they make an adapter, I think @Jyzmbe knows about it.

Either buy a 08+ cable or buy the adapter @shmity1 makes

Get the adapter, you'll have more throw. However, if you want an 08+ cable I have a mint one for $60 shipped.

Pre 08 cable has 4" of throw and post 08 has 2.5" I believe

Friend had he adapter. Couldnt get it back apart after a year. Had to grind the top of the pole open to get the part out. Dont think its annodized. Might want to check into that.

It's not. As long as you antiseize you should be fine. I rode surf a lot too
