10th Annual Jet Waves Contest in Brazil

This coming weekend will be the 10th Anniversary of the Jet Waves contest in Brazil.

It will also be the final round, (actually final two rounds) of the IFWA World Tour. After the Jet Waves Finals on Sunday, the top 8 guys according to points will be bracketed and put back in the water to decide the World Title. This extra round is being added to make up for the loss of events in Portugal and the US this year.

I will keep this thread updated as much as possible, and I am keeping a more indepth account of things and my thoughts on my website. www.ross-champion.com/blog.html

For more info on the contest please check out IFWA.com.br

Rip it up Ross!

Thanks guys...things are good here so far. Just waiting on the hull to show up, should be here wed night. Also working on trying to get the skis from last year released from customs. Tchello and I met with some Brazilian FBI guys this morning. It is crazy, but the skis that we never got for last year's contest are still sitting in a customs warehouse somewhere in Sao Paulo. And we are not any closer to getting them now than we were then.

Put a little more on the blog...not much.

And Mark, you don't need a translator or mechanic, we will take care of you next time. But you will be on your own for the male escort...sure you can find one though...

Thats sick and f'ed up to hear about the Customs sleepers.

Thanks for the support. He is the one who built the SXR I would have ridden. and I had a little feeling I ********ed myself after I wrote that...

If you talk to Ludo I really could use those pictures from oceanside for some letters im going to write for Financial support to get the superjet back in the water. I sent him an email but if he didnt get it its Mark@markgomez.net.
I know you guys are busy out there but it would help me out so much back here if he has a few minutes to do that. If not I understand busy guy.

That is crazy about customs. Is that typical or something? Do they just pull random crates and then they sit until they get time to inspect them?
Or do they know what they are and are just being dix?

Best guys to ask about that would be Tchello at www.pronautica.com.br

or Sergio Buena at www.XFTonline.com between those two guys you should be able to find something that would work for you.

Tony,
Great to meet you and your girlfriend!

It is so cool to see so many really good riders from Brazil this year!

Customs issues don't have anything to do with the skis or anything..at this point, I honestly could not say what exactly the issue is. It keeps changing. But it is a mess...hopefully those skis will be released shortly.

I will try and get the blog updated soon, but things are good down here.

The hull from Sergio arrived on Wed, and we got it finished and in the water on Thursday afternoon. My JSU motor was spot on, did not even need to touch the screws on the carb. This is the same motor that I have run all year, and it has just been unreal!

This hull handles WAY different than anything else I have ridden, but I have really good setup. We came to Itajai last night and I got about an hour and a half in on the ski to try and get used to it. So far so good....

Today was the first round of pre-qualifying, but with only 20 riders, all move to tomorrows qualifying rounds. And riders that are not seeded from being in the top 8 of the tour are seeded based on their pre-qual run.

Tomorrow is when things count....so I'm gonna get some sleep and hopefully I will have some time to give a complete write up very soon. And some good news.

Thanks again for all the support!!!

Just a quick update this AM before we head to the beach. Some pics are up on Fullgaz forum, and I will get a few from Ludo to put up here tonight.

XFT hull is really good quality, Sergio went above and beyond for me and I really appreciate that.

I updated the blog with a little more info, but nothing all that exciting.

Pierre's super flips are really good! There is a pic in the fullgaz forum
