Usually over on pwctoday, but I'm getting sick of the BS over there. Anyways, I am wanting to do an 1100 SXR in the near future. I have located a donor ski, a '98 Kawasaki 1100 ZXI. Found it on craigslist, thought I was going to be dealing with a normal craigslist seller, but the guy seems to have great knowledge about the ski. So here's the deal, the original top end just went out on the original motor, seller said one of the cylinders ran to hot and locked the motor up. He removed the top end and the bottom was not hurt. Basically what I would be getting is...the complete bottom end(flywheel, stator, starter), ebox/cdi, all the manifolds, stock exhaust, cylinders(which are bore able) and an aftermarket head. I've seen running 1100's go on ebay for 1k +, so I figured top end will cost $450-500 +, so I offered $400 cash for everything he had, but I havent seen any pics yet, just an hour phone call about the motor. He told me to come take a look at it and we'll go from there.
So do you think thats a decent price to pay for what I would be getting? Or should I hold out for something better? I have no problem replacing the top end either.
More importantly what parts are a necessity on these swaps? I know I need the ebox, and I'll need a driveshaft from an STX, but is there anything else I should try to grab from this guy that I'll need down the road?
Any responses will help! Thanks
