SXR 1100 sxr donor ski questions

It doesnt look like the cases were touched at all. How long has the motor been sitting? I would still split the cases and at least re-seal it. You can really clean and check the crank too that way. Depending on what you are going to do with your set-up, you could reassemble it the way it was, mostly oem, or you could do some more clean up on the cases and cylinder, and add a few bolt on parts. I would actually also bore it to 81.5 mm as the motor seems to respond to that well. The guy zero on here does a nice lightening mod to the stock flywheel for pretty cheap and does it quick as well. I was very happy with mine. Also if you go back to pwctoday and search posts from zximan there is a 2 part recipe on modding this engine reliably and cheaply, most of which you can do yourself. Let me know if you have any more questions. As they say 'let the games begin'!!!

$150 for all of that is a deal. I agree with Ultimate, if it were me, I would rebuild the crank. Even if it is in good shape, it is still 13 years old and who knows how many hours are on it. A rebuild isn't cheap by any means, but the knowledge of knowing the time on the crank is worth it in my opinion.

Also, stock kawi SXR pistons will go in these as long as you bore up to 82mm. These motors respond well to bore. As for carbs, you can get them to run decent on stock non cv carbs. A better option is three SXR carbs, but you need to find them, the two manifolds and the linkage stuff. Kind of a pain, but more power than the stockers. There is a guy on pwctoday names 'trip' who is doing really nice conversion set ups using SXR carbs and his prices are cheap. The best set up is a set of aftermarkets. We have tried 44s, 46s and NOVI 48s. All are better than stockers or SXR set ups. The 44s make good power, the 46s make more, the 48s make the most. On a stock bore or even slightly modded set up, I would go 46s. My SXR with 46s, compression and our pipe set up runs 64mph all day long on pump gas. That is with a stock non ported motor.

The best thing about these set ups is how easy it is to get power out of them. My stock bore set up runs like a champ with very little overall investment. But, if you ant more, my brothers set up with a Judge Motorsports porting set up, 82mm bore and the 48 NOVIs makes mine feel like a limited, lol. It's all a matter of ho much money you want to spend and how much power you can hang onto. And, even with his set up, we have less invested than a new SJ or SXR will run you.

Good luck with the build.

Your ski runs 64mph all day long on pump gas, is this with the stock sxr pump?

Ok, I am in the process of locating a machine shop to bore the cylinders. What size should I go? These are stock bore size cylinders.

I found a pair of carbs off a 900zxi the non CV version, paid 70 plus 13 bucks in shipping so those should be coming in soon.

Any preferences on companies that sell top end kits?

No, I am running a skat set back 142 with skat nozzles. GPS'd this weekend, 63.8. So, down a little, but it was near a hundred degrees, lol. Will be dropping in a 2 mil stroker before too long, shooting for upper 60s.
