Made up my mind. Getting a Blaster this winter. I'm looking into an 1100 conversion- I have a lead on a cheap zxi- but is it right for what I want? I ride 90 % flat water w/ mild chop. Love to get air on my SJ but I'm also a speedfreak that carves and corners.

Engine reliability is also a factor.

Will I regret the extra weight that an 1100 brings? Or once I hit the throttle will I never look back

its 40lbs difference. surf vs flatwater ripping id say it will work in both applications. im stuffing a 1100 in a waverunner 500 hull. :)

You would think 40lbs isn't as noticeable but it is, sold mine and went back to a 701 based setup for that reason. Was just too heavy for me at least in bigger waves. Light chop and flat the 1100 with the extra weight makes it handle great. In 6 footers I destroyed the extreme throttle mounting plates, bent them all To hell from the impact, went with the ada kit after that. The Kawi conversion may be a different story but that's my experiwnce with the yami 1100.

Ive never been on a blaster but after reading it described as a sportbike on water by some, my interest peaked. Ocean trips would be rare unless I get my ass motivated to get to any of the events.
If the engine checks out and I can get it for the right price, i think I might get it. Thanks for the input.

I know many more on here rock the 1100- whatya think?

both are solid motors

a BB will run you around $2800 new with ADA head... where a 1100 kawi/yami will or should be less then half that.

If i were in your shoes id most likely go with the 1100. I personally own a BB n enjoy it but not sure it puts out as much power as a 1100. Theres a lot of 1100 blasters out there, so let that speak for itself.

Check out the thread i started. There is a lot of info on this topic. I'm doing the same thing. I'm going to use Gp1200 instead of the 1100. That is once i get my hands on one for the right price. Check out 701 industries and Rad Dudes they both have some sweet kits.

Yep, been there. I've been scouring the blaster threads looking for info and was actually gonna bring up your thread b/c of the rad dudes and 701 guys going back n forth. Both look like they make solid parts/accessories.

I too was concerned about the weight/center of gravity difference... i run a 63m and never looked back. the triple gives insane power over the entire powerband. It takes a short while to get used to cornering as the ski wants to tip a bit more leaning in, but after 1 ride you wont look back. plus its hard to get more reliable than stock!

Based on your riding you described I'd go 1100...it will
Put a smile on your face no doubt. If you said you wanted to jump waves and stuff if say go big bore.

^^x2.
I rode Jetx's 1100 Blaster and it was a ton of fun. Pulls hard at all times and certainly put a smile on my face! If all you want to do is rip around the lake, you will love the 1100. If you want to jump waves (I would say 2ft and higher) I would shy away from the 1100 and go with something light and that has some grunt... A small stoker perhaps?? (Thats the route I'm taking when it comes time) Just my 2 cents...

If I can get this 1100 for for the right price I'll roll w/ it and see how it goes. Can always change it out at later time, just not trying to spend that much.

Well the deal was too good to pass. Picked up a beat up 96 zxi with a running 1100 inside. sounded good. 105 100 110 compression. Possible blaster hull in the works after turkey day.

I got the ebox out. I suppose it will have to be reconfigured to get rid of any unnecessary couch electrics. Other than the motor and ebox is there anything else to cannibalize for the blaster build ? midshaft coupler? IMG_0639.jpgIMG_0637.jpgIMG_0643.jpg
