I wouldn't go near it. Yeah, it's 200 bucks cheaper. WSM has a hit and miss reputation, often more miss than hit.

Thanks Matt.... Here is some more pictures of the take-apart. I have never taken a motor completly apart before. Overall I say it went well - not the true test if I can put it back together haha.

I think I made a mistake by not taking off flywheel or cupler while it was in the motor. I didnt have a flywheel puller (ordering one now) whats the best way to take it off now? I dotn want to damage anything.

There is some surface rust on part of the crank (see pics). Everything seems quiet and smooth is this any concern?

What else should I do while I am here. I am plannign to replace crank seals (rear one didnt look good) and the collar on the crank. Reeds look fine, but should I replace those while its off? Anything else to inspect?

That crank looks horrible. I guess if everything else checks out, it's ok. The flywheel may need a special Kawasaki puller tool. I am not 100% sure though. SBT sells it if you do need it.

What caused the grenade? Pistons in backwards? j/k :)

No the engine got super hot and blew. The alarm started going off and I was trying to limp it back to the dock, but it didn't make it.

I never changed any of the water lines after I bought it so I think there was a clog somewhere between the pump and inlet on the exhaust manifold. It only scored one cylinder so a hone and new piston and new water lines and I think it would have been fine, but I was $1300 into the engine and was done with it! Besides who really wants/needs a couch! haha!

I ended up trading into my SN for it and the engine that blew ended up into my buddy's 1100 SXR so it all worked out in the end!

Haha!
