148 skat-trak install?

Hey guys,

Im installing a skat-trak 2 inch set back pump and have come into a roadblock. It seems like on my hurricane that the steering line and cooling tube should be reversed to how it is installed. The cooling line has to cross the steering making it bind up. I tried looping it back and then to the tube but it kinks it pretty bad.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this and what they did. Trying to see if there are any options before I drill and tap the pump to move the hose barb above.

Also does anyone know the typical thread size on a half inch hose barb? 3/8 by NPT?

yeah one piece pump. Im thinking ill probably just have to drill and tap above. Looked at the solas i pulled out and this is what they did. A little more scary drilling into this pump though.

i tried that and still binding up. Talked to @Marcgraham27 who had the same issue so I got a 90 to eliminate the kink in the hose. Not the prettiest but atleast i dont have to drill the pump and should work fine. I want to find some low pro hose clamps though.

Yes it was a pain in the dick. Had to route the water lines over the pump for them to work and not kink.

I am not sure if this would even work with a 148 pump. Barely works with a 144. Poor pump tunnel design if I could say so myself.

The steering cable and water line pipe need to swap places.

Yea they do need to be swapped. I'm going to see if that works for me tommorow. If not maybe go to a shop and get a bung welded on so its not so ghetto. Haha

My water lines are 3/8ths as well. The pipe on the hull is 1/2 though. That was fun.
