148mm Setback in a RN SJ

I've seen alot of old forums from 5-10 years ago about the bigger pump sizes in a round nose superjet. Those bigger pump sizes were new during those times so no one really had some good info on them. I'm looking to buy a 148mm setback torrent pump for a Jet Maniac 781 motor. Was wondering if I'll have trouble spinning it or how efficient it will be. I want to go with 148mm setback to be able to throw it into any A/M hull instead of playing it safe and going 144mm for the superjet. Trying to avoid selling and buying new parts constantly. Any thoughts on the 148mm setbacks in a 701/781 SJ?

I ran a 701 with 148 and it was fine.. was gonna put my 155 behind it too but hadn’t.

Torrent has a 150mm too, I’d Consider that if buying new...

All these people try to rip me up for thinking putting anything bigger than a 144mm is alright to do. lol... I was thinking 148 would be about the biggest. Hmm never thought of trying a 150mm.

im running a 148mm kavinci pump in my 96 RN right now. found too good a deal to pass up on the complete pump with nozzles, wear ring, shoe, impeller and driveshaft. had to grind the shoe area slightly to get it to slide in. the impeller was a 12/17 and was able to repitch it to 10/15 myself. it could still use a little less pitch but overrall runs pretty good. its just a little sluggish off the bottom but im also running a 62t engine with dual 44s and stock ignition until i get a zeel for it.
