PUDDLE - BLASTER
Dudes , all of our fx1`s are 19 or 20 years old.... Any ideas as to how many of the 1500 sold , way back in 94/95 are still in active service... ??? Where I live I have never seen another in use.....
3 , that's neat. The one you sent to the dump , was that the result of a failed backflip attempt... ?I have owned three. One went to the dump. One got sold on and not sure where it is now.
The other is in my garage getting a massive overhaul now
Yeah only 1500 , so take good care of your own.Awhile back there was one that sold on here that was brand new in the crate, I believe Carl at cold fusion was the one who had it, could be wrong. Pretty cool, didn't know only 1500 were made
Glad to hear that there is at least a dozen in use in your area , nice one...<<<< this new 1995 was on the showroom floor at Cycle Springs in Tarpon Springs Fl in early 1996. I had read in a Splash mag that Yamaha stopped making them?! Not "ridable" by most, racers were the primary target and this was more of a surf or freestyle type of ski. Since the FX-1 came out, this was the ski I really wanted over the old 90 SJ I had! But I had just bought the house, and had no way to pay the 4900$ to purchase the last FX-1 in this area of Fl. So thanks to Dad, we have owned this ski since day one. My 78 year old Dad is still co-owner to this day.
Just reinforced the hull last year since I ride a lot of shallow surf spots and even though gel coat will stress crack, it made me nervous. Still has stock graphics, purples, re-turfed twice over the years. I miss the old pebble turf. Couple other bolt on or custom made mods as needed or when things broke, 98% saltwater entire life, fires right up, never needed a primer but has one. This is the most reliable anything I have ever owned in my life. Anytime it did act up, it was an ID10T error on my part. Glad it never succumbed to my various learning curves! It's one tuff glassy bish!
I just never needed another ski after I got the FX-1. All though....I would eventually like another FX-1 based hull with various hull and pump mods one day.
BTW, I know there are at least a dozen or more in Fl right now that are still on the water. Perfect for crappy Florida surf.
Few years ago it gave me great pride to drive to Jersey and grab an FX1 in pieces and bring it home to Michigan.Currently The FxMafia allegedly has roughly 40 Fx1s that ride in their New Jersey waters!
