155 in Xscream kdx

I have a xscream kdx I’m trying to put a 155 mag pump in. I just got the pump shoe in and it fits but the pump tunnel diameter looks smaller than the pump shoe diameter. Will this be an issue? Also will pump fit? Just want to make sure all will be good. Pump shoe fits right in but didn’t know how much the pump tunnel had to match the pump shoe. 5D64AA46-7EBF-4AA4-A70A-3D751ED2665F.jpeg

I did a 155 conversion on my 144 ski… has the same step as yours, my tunnel is slightly larger at the front, so it not exactly apples to apples comparison, but mine worked fine……

Your tunnel seems less than ideal….. but there’s a bunch of threads about using the 155 in an sj… so your not alone… it’s been done…

He’s some pic’s I took…. Also a link to a kdx with oem 155….there are lots of other threads too, this just happen to a kdx so figured your be interested

The few times I've contacted xscream they've been very helpful. Seems like the obvious thing would be to talk to them. Who could possibly know better what pump works well in that hull?

There is made 2 or 3 “versions” Of the Kdx if i remember correct. They also had diffrent length Of bottom decks. Could be they made Them with diffrent pump tunnels.
How wide is your intake duct in mm if you messaure witdh acroas where thw grate sits ?

Who knows how many different versions they had. Tricky had several and it was like every one was different.

Maybe @tricky1 could chime in?

Who actually made the hulls in those days? Seems like there should be some people around who are still very familiar with these if not the guy or guys who actually built them.

Pics of a 155 shoe conversion into a 144 superfreak BA (the one no one said was worth it becuase if the (small) pump tunnel) I just ground into a taper and used a layer of carbon to transition smoothly into the shoe, then reinforced from the inside of the tray. I wouldn’t say it’s optimal to have the tunel slightly smaller than the shoe and I’m no aerospace engineer but I believe you’ll be shoveling in a lot more water than you’d think. If not we’ll both be in the same boat at least!

As long as you have a decent transition and the tunnel is somewhat big I think you’ll be fine. I put 144 in an fx1 back in the day. I had cavitation issues. Obviously didn’t make the tunnel big enough.
