I have had this ski for 2 years and it has run great. Last season I took it out it ran fine and 30mins later would run again. This season I messed with it and it still wouldn't run. I was at a loss and one day it fired up at and ran great. I took it to the water and it wouldn't run. It's made a practice of doing this on several occasions. Sometimes it'll run sometimes just kick but mostly it won't do a thing. I have compression, spark, and fuel. Someone I talked to said it's probably some ignition problem. Please help.

Yes this is a common problem on all 550s.
Its 30 years old. I'm sure a few parts are beyond the factory recommended service intervals.

I understand that but what would be the fix for this problem if it is common?

It could be one system failing or it could just be lots of wear on everything creating compounding issues.
My experiences with 550s are that some of them run and some of them don't.

So is it worth it to try to figure it out or just forget it because I've already put quite some time into figuring out passed issues.

It all depends on what your hopes and dreams are. Anything short of a full restoration will probably leave you with never ending problems. Even in "like new" condition these skis have questionable reliability
