1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

I just received my first order of upgrades!

Hood straps
Blowsion universal OVP steering kit
Riva Fat bars- straight
RRP throttle lever
ODI grips
Handle pole rope kit
Handle pole shock pad
9/15 impeller- Hooker
Dual sump bracket and additional sump for hull

I waited on the ride plate because a friend told me to ride it first and see how it feels with those upgrades before I put on a different one. Theory is to change things where you can feel the difference between the two/side by side.

I also waited on getting the fiberglass because it is cold in michigan. I don't have a good way to heat the garage and i'm travelling a lot during the winter. So I thought i would be best to get everything in the spring when I'm back from traveling and can monitor a heated garage.

I have one other question if anyone knows- I have a Fox Racing Proframe helmet I bought for me my JetSurf. Will that be enough for freestyle riding on my ski? I know everyone has a preference but the main question is, will it be enough to protect my head when I fail a lot of tricks?

I mean that looks like a glorified bicycle helmet. Maybe its enough, maybe its not. If you're really worried, why not just run an MX helmet where itll be DOT certified at least.

Its a downhill mountain bike helmet. I heard a lot of people use them for freestyle over MX helmets because of weight. Just wanted to see some opinions about them is all.

A little update!

I built my stand last night so I could have a solid platform to work on it.

I used the free layout from RSKI. It was pretty good and easy to build. There were a couple things I changed though. Home Depot sold a 2'X4' section of plywood already cut so I used that instead of the dimensions they called for on the bottom platform. I also didn't cut angels in the top bunks (mainly because I was frozen and didn't want to spend any more time in the garage. Because of the change in bottom dimensions I had to measure out the lower support sections instead of using the supplied measurements. It still worked out great. I bought everything and used casters that were not the standard duty use. I think they were the heavy duty ones (not industrial). I bought all 4 with the built in brakes. I'm sure it could be cheaper if you wanted but I just wanted to get it done.

For the wood, I bought 4 10' sections and cut them into 5' pieces so they would fit into my jeep. That was plenty and still have some left over (1 5' section).

I bought 5/16 (i believe, going off of memory) shorter lag bolts for the casters. One hole was not in a 2x4 area so I got 5/16 bolts with wide washers as to not break the plywood structure. I used nylock nuts and washers on all bolts where they met the caster openings.

I bought marine carpet for the bunks from menards. I got the grey color and bought 6'X3' section. It was pretty cheap.

Overall it didn't take more than 2 and 1/2 hours to complete once I had everything in the garage.

So far the ski rolls great and sits firmly on top. Later on, since it is longer (48" instead of 40") I may have to support the middle. Not sure though. It seems pretty solid as it sits. We will see.

More updates for today!

Last night I spent a couple hours to take everything out of the hull. Small progress but it felt good to see it empty. Next step is to prep the surfaces for reinforcement and get the turf off the tray. They used a lot of glue when this turf went on so I think it will be a struggle for sure.

I sold my 650 motor yesterday so I won't be building the wave raider anymore. I am going to part it out so if anyone wants something message me. I will make thread on the marketplace for it as well.
