1990 Superjet Wont Start

Hey guys. Just bought a 1990 superjet. When I bought it it was running fine and started right up. I let it sit in my garage for about 5 weeks (not starting or running it) and can not get it started now. Seems like its turning over fine but wont fire up. Any Ideas as to why this is? Thanks!

Just checked. No spark. So i cleaned them off and swapped the spark plugs. Put it back in and started for about 2 seconds then no spark again. Anyone know why this is? Spark plugs look good
Thanks

alright thanks. how would shorting the wires help? and is there any way it could just be the spark plugs? thanks. - kinda knew to the sport so i appreciate all the help

Check your ground wire (down off the back of the starter)
Make sure the battery is charged
Unplug your stop switch (black and white wires on connector next to ebox)
Pull ebox apart and make sure it is not corroded or have any water/moisture in it
Google is your friend. JSSolutions has some posts that list everything you should check.

I would highly recommend getting this instead of sending it in..
OEM part number: EW2-68311-01-00 Switch sub assembly. Should run around 60$. It's the complete switch assembly that fits inside of the housing(Lanyard switch, start switch, stop switch). It's number 11 in this parts breakdown: http://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/yam/5003a3a0f870021f60a12b2f/steering
I'd rather have all new parts than getting it rebuilt.

does this come with the wires to? i think there is a shortage somewhere in my start set up. Ill hit the start and it will crank and crank. then ill have it apart move the bundle of cords going into the start stop assembly and it will start right up.

for anyone having similar problems, here's a video on how to rule out the start/stop switch (black/white wires). It's a common failure on pre-2021 SJs that causes no spark.
