Because I don't think MY Superjet isn't better then MY js550?

Haha...enjoy both your skis good sir. If you are looking for more of a 550 crowd though there are many more enthusiasts on PWCT.

I do frequent there as well.
Why so much 550 hate?

Correct. The love for SJ's isn't just because of the massive low end badassness they have, its the way they ride and turn. I and most on here would prefer a slower superjet to a faster 550. Go to PWCtoday and look up where I posted I hate anyone who spends money, time and effort on 440/550 hulls because they suck so much. It didn't go over that well.

Being that I started on a 550. I'm having a really hard time getting used to how a SJ handles.
I just find it odd, or rather surprising that one would aggressively oppose one or the other. At either end of the spectrum.

Also, It likely didn't go well because you went on to a public form and basically attacked a bunch of people who didn't share you views.
Most people are sensitive to such a thing.

I think everybody needs to chill out. What matters is that you are having fun and enjoying your ride, no matter what your craft of choice may be...

(in a whispered voice) Yamaha Superjet, F__k the world!

550's are fun. That's where I started, then went to a 90 SJ 650 with a protec pipe. I put a high compression head on it, and that woke the ski up considerably.
The turning is very different form a JS to a SJ. I would agree that you'll spend some time swimming when getting used to it... (less time though thanks to the land yards vs the damn circle of death!).
I'll never forget the love and fun I've had on my JS's when learning to ride though. The carving was amazing... But when I road a 550sx last season after being used to a 701+, it was hard to enjoy it. Especially with how long the hand poles were!
Either way you go, you're still not sitting down on a jet ski!

Thats the biggest thing I hear people talk about that make the switch to superjets from either the 550's or the FX1's. Totally different style. Smaller skis you really lean them over, superjets you can dam near flat turn at slower speeds. And I don't think anyone here is actually hatin on ya, just giving you a hard time since we're all superjet fans and like motorcycle racers we are all usually a little more "loose" with how we have fun with each other.

No worries mate.
I'm almost impossible to offend. Provided my mother is left out of it ;)
After making sure everything was working well on my SJ (new build and all). I started to really hit it hard trying to get a feel for it. I spent equal amounts of time swimming vs riding. Must have done damn near 300 push ups getting into the tray. It has skegged ride plate. Which was tremulously beneficial to my 550 along with the scoop grate. I think its to much for me on the SJ. Its either shallow turn or bites deep and spins on a dime. Obviously my several years experience riding my 550 means I'm accustom to how to ride it. Given time Ill get there with the SJ.

First thing I bought for my 550 was the lanyard kill switch....Actually, besides the pole (I'm fine with the stock one) that's the only thing I could upgrade on it.

1. Please buy this SJ!!! $1000 for ANY SJ is worth it. I have a 701 waiting to be pulled out of a donor ski if you're ever ready for it. I'd be happy to make it a win win for both parties.
2. Since everyone has put their 2¢ in about a 550 vs a SJ, I'll add mine in there too...
About 15 years ago, I bought a 650sx and a 550 at the same time. The 650sx was all set up for racing with a pipe, head, etc. Yes, it was faster than the 550, but I quickly found out I enjoyed jumping waves more than going fast. The 550 became my ski of choice. I also bought another 550. Both were stock and I LOVED THEM!! I liked the challenge, the squirreliness, and most of all, the light weight. I could bunny hop over the 3' buoy in front of my dock at the age of 15.
Oh, the reason I had 2 550s - that was because one was always broke, so I had a backup to ride. Remember this for later in this novel...
Fast forward a bunch of years. I then got a SXR 800. Loved it. Super powerful compared to what I was on. Heavy, but I could launch off of waves and do hood tricks, plus nose stabs. Hood tricks were way more difficult on the 550. Then, I got an FX-1. That was the tits!! Felt like 800 power (Yamaha 760) in a 550 hull. I was in love!! I still love this ski today. Then, I got my Wammer hull (RN carbon/Kevlar hull with 701, bpipe...). That was the best yet, because it was the best low end power, but still lightweight. I landed my first ever backflip with the Wammer 701 between a ski nautique and an Air nautique doing a V wake.
Fast forward 6 more years or so. I've ridden every hull and every engine minus a handful of them in the industry. I own, in my opinion, the best 900 class freestyle ski in the industry. I also own a 701 SN now. There's days I like to ride my freestyle ski, and there's days I like to take the SJ out. But one thing is certain, all the SJs that I've owned and been on, ALWAYS work longer and more consistent than any 550 that I've ever known of. I'd love to take my 550 out, but it's sitting in the bottom of a barn right now collecting dust, because it's too finicky to deal with at the moment. I got the honor of riding Mark Gomez's world finals 550 a couple years ago, and if I could pick ANY ski to have as a 2nd ski to have fun with (after my freestyle Helium), I'd pick his 550. That thing was one of the coolest jetskis I've ever been on!! And incredibly powerful for a 550!
So, my short story ends like this... who the heck cares what jetski you have. (Edit: what "standup jetski" you have). You're going to love it. 99% of the time there's always going to be something better or worse that you can buy or sell. They all have their drawbacks and benefits. But they're all fun and keep you in shape. And, BUY THAT SJ for $1000!!!!!
