1993 Yamaha Waveblaster

For the longest time an old friend had been trying to sell his blown up 1993 Waveblaster for too high of a price. A couple of weeks ago he calls me and asks "Hey man, I'm trying to get rid of this ski." After explaining that last time his price was way too high he explains "No you don't understand, if you don't come get this thing I'm leaving it in a parking lot somewhere."

And that's how I ended up with this clean '93 for the good 'ol American price of FREE!

Front cylinder was nuked and there was a ton of premix splooge in the flywheel cover so I'm thinking it blew up from an air leak. Previous owner had the top end pulled off already so it was just the bottom end sitting in the ski, with the Protec exhaust and head just sitting in the bay. Found a 62T shortblock-ish engine (came with intake manifold and carbs) to get swapped into the ski. The ultimate goal is to build it to Sport Stock specs this fall to prepare for the Pro Watercross tour in 2019. Coming from a sportbike background I'm looking forward to trying a different type of racing. Not having a crazy tire bill every weekend will sure be nice...

Snapped this pic midway through hooking everything up. Cooling and fuel lines have since been re-routed and properly hooked up, aiming to take it to Oconee in Georgia this weekend to see how far off my jetting is and go from there!

Very cool to pick up a hull like that. Looks like the old case didnt get filled up with water and ruin the crank. Does the old crank look ok? Nice to have spare electrics and carbs too.

Yes sir crank looks ok, my younger brother and I think it may have seized due to a blown crank seal on the front cylinder. Currently the ski has a 61X and full Protec setup in it so I can get used to riding a Waveblaster while we build the 62T engine to Sport Spec rules on a bench. Sure is a fun ski!
