SX/SXi/SXi Pro 1994 750SX Plugs really clean, look a little too wet

I have had my ski up and running (trailer only) for a couple weeks and have ran it maybe 20 minutes (with water attached of course). My son in law who is more familiar with two strokes mentioned to me that it seems to "ping" a bit on decell after revving up. We pulled the plugs and he said they were too clean (they were new when I got it running). We checked compression and got 150 dead on in both cylinders. I have always been of the mind its better to run too much oil thanh not enough.

This ski has been sitting since 05 (last sticker) and it had oil sealed in the oil tank which I went ahead and left in there, but also mixed the gas as well cause I wasn't sure if it was going to work.

It smokes ok but doesn't smell as healthy as my 750ss xi of the same vintage with a newer motor.

Any ideas? I plan on pulling the pump and running straight pre-mix so there is not chance of messing up the motor. Should I really run 50/1 in it as the manual states? It is stock.
Also the plugs are champion - which I would NEVER run in a car, should I have the same mind-set with my skis?

Any input is appreciated.

br8es by the way, also spend the coin and get the solid top, not the screw on tops. they rattle loose and cause a black gunky build up that can lead to misfires
oh, and mine will sporatically fire on decel when its on the trailer too, that might be what you were hearing. I would throw it in the water and go from there, might be a non-issue

Champion plugs are worthless. I had to buy some in a pinch once and would rather not ride than run them again. The screw top threads were so bad the caps got stuck in the boot the first time I pushed them on, and they never ran as well. My dad was a VW mechanic for years and has had many negative experiences as well.

^^ your dad was telling the truth lol. Im a VW tech and have seen some VW that customers put champions in and then towed the car to us saying "something is wrong, it wont start". They are super picky cars though.

I bought NGK for both skis last night and installed new NGK boots (had the oe Blue ones on there).

I'm bgonna drain the oil and put in some fresh Kawasaki 2 stroke oil as well.

Yes I get a popping on decell on the 750SX but not on my 750 SS XI.
