1996 fx1

ive got a 1996 fx1 registered and titled, i did not think about it when i bought the ski but now i am trying to figure out how the hell that happened? anyone have any ideas

Maybe, after production on the FX1s ended, a rogue employee at Yamaha built it out of spare parts at night and smuggled it over to the states where he continues to live a life constantly on the run.

wouldn't surprise me at all if it was sold in 96 and the dealer put down the wrong numbers on the papers. Now if the HID ends in 06 that would be interesting..
 
oh ok, so this is most likely just a mix up on paper

oh and to clear this up, i bought it a month ago and did a title transfer, and the title says the ski is a 1996, thats weird because they stopped making the ski in 95

Mix up OR import

Yamaha continued making FX-1's for the japanese market long after they were dropped by the U.S. arm of Yamaha. There is a slight chance you have a grey import. Check the last two digits of your vin. If it is "96" have your local dealer do a unit inquirey on your complete vin to verify that the vin is for a fx-1. If you purchased it used there is also a chance some scam artist put a raider ( or other junk ski ) vin on the ski.
