300/440/550 2 440's Good buy or bad buy?

I'm looking at buying 2 440's for $200 one has a couple aftermarket parts and the other is stock. Here's the catch.....they haven't been started in 5 years! So is this a good deal or would I be wasting my time and money to fix these ski's?
Im trying to get into the sport and ready to learn a lot so you may have to dumb it down a bit hahaha thanks guys!

Buy it!! That's a great deal! Well depending on how the hulls look are they in decent condition?? Lol If worse comes to worse u can part out both skis and get ur money back

They're good skis they get u out of the water! With a couple upgrades you should be fine u don't need to go fast to have fun. They're perfect skis to learn with if uve never rode before.

Definitely good for getting on the water to make sure its the right sport for you.

I was looking for these on craigslist to check out the condition and give you a better answer but couldn't find them.

I would be all over it for that kind of deal.

My first and current ski was a 300 sx which is even less ski than the 440 and I payed twice as much for just one! And I will tell you right now it was worth it because I found a sport that I love! So please by all means jump on it. And if worse comes to worse and it's not for you, you can make your money back by parting out to people who need parts to keep on going.

And to think, there was a guy trying to sell one 550sx for $1500 just a few weeks ago! lol

I would be all over that deal like white on rice tho! You have 2 so you can steal parts off of the other one to make 1 working ski, or if your lucky, just put a new battery and gas in both and you'll have 2 working skis! You can't even really buy a complete engine and pump for $200 for one of those skis that easily (if your looking on ebay!)

This is what he said when I asked him if he had any idea what was wrong with them and what make and model they were."No, a friend of mine donated them to my youth ministry (I am a youth pastor) and we can't use them b/c of insurance liabilities. I know they used to run about 5 yrs ago but not sure if there is anything really wrong. Price reflects this. Kawasaki 440s late 80s or early 90s"So I'm thinking starter, battery, gas, and fuel lines all need to be replaced. Any other recommendations?

Offer him $180. Just tell him they're old skis they don't run ur taking a risk cuz ur not exactly sure how much work it's gona u gota sound like u kno what ur talking about!

I have bought skis that havnt been run for maybe up to ten years .. if they were stored fairly dry and clean .. you may get away with draining the gas fresh fuel and a battery of course .. but hey without seeing them who knows .. but for $200 they are worth more in parts so not a big deal either way ..
one of my last "440/550 Old not running skis" bought just for parts was this ..
I didnt know what it even was .. he said it was a old "race ski " .. LOL how many times have I heard that one.. anyways .. really wish I would have kept it ... but then again .. no matter really ... so dont know how it ended up way up norrth in Canada but its back in the southern states restored now .. I paid $250 and wondered why teh hell I paid that much for this derelect ski !
check it out :)

I think it lost something in its restoration .. kind of would have been nice to left it with the original scratched up used and abused look .. hey that ski won the fanals way back when ,,, and later still had been riden .. I am taking as recent as 3 to 4 years ago .. now .. well now its days of beings used as a jetski are pretty much over :(
if i could go back a few years and i knew what i had .,,, I would have kept it ,, but hey now i have a new ski ( too manys skis actually ) and my son is now into freestyle and racing .. even has a few 1st place wins to sit on the mantel :)
