2 Herniated disks

Was riding this past sunday after getting my new steering set up, about 2 inch further forward, and my back started hurting me

of course being sunday and nice weather I said oh well and kept riding harder and harder, towards the end of my ride it hurt more so I kept leaning back to stretch it out

by the time I got to my shop I could barely walk

end result, 2 herniated disks, could barely walk for 4 days and now have to do physical therapy to avoid further injury and surgery

worst part is, all I want to do is ride even if my back feels "alright" but I'm refraining

oh yeah....IM 26 YEARS OLD DAMNIT! and work in the marine industry constant lifting and pulling etc, and ride about 4 days a week

Had a sequestered disc a couple of years ago. It was awful for a while. I went to a chiro for over 2 years.
Stretching and doing my back exercises like I was told with the adjustments helped tremendously.

Now I work out and ride like I did in my 30,s.

24 and feel the back problem blues too brother. Improper lifting, lifting too much and working on marine equipment & ride all the time too dude. Scary stuff to hear. Hope back heals up. I try now to make sure I use machinery first before me doing the lifting. Making a truck bed system too to make things smarter not harder from here on out. Good luck with recovery!

The one time I truly hurt my back, and I mean HURT- I was lifting a box.
It put me on the ground and took the wind right out of me. Laid up in bed for several days- I was done. Worst back pain I have ever experienced.

The box was only about 3lbs, just twisted weird while picking it up. Felt like such a B!tch, but poop that was a painful one. So I feel for you. Rest up!

Almost 52 & have been dealing with back problems for +25 yrs. First showed up when I pulled a 1600 DP engine out of my Baja bug, carried it into the garage & put it on the bench. I was strong enough, but my back paid the price. 2 bulging discs, I was laid up for a week.
Best thing you can do is keep your weight down, stretch daily, yoga is great, an inversion table & lots of sit ups.
Good luck.

It has now been 16 days since I last rode...THIS SUCKS!

good part is my back is feeling better, can't feel any pain, but took my ski apart so I wouldn't ride, hopefully can get out soon but take it easy to see how I feel

I am a machinist and have been forced to lean impropely into machines for years, along with all the improper lifting and impact sports and my whole back has been screwed since my mid teens. It never gets better, you can only manage it. I have thought about selling my ski at the times where its bad but I just cant give it up. I found the best methods for controlling it is focusing on proper posture and lifting techinques if your work requires it, doing stretches before and during work and sports, and maintaining a strong core by working out and eating healty. When I start to get lazy and am heavy on the cheese burgers the pain starts to become constant. When I was younger you think you can do anything and eat anything and never believe anyone when they say you will pay for it, but you do and I'm only 30 now

that did not come from the day of riding with a shorter pole....this back situation had been brewing for much longer.... what did u do ??

if u don't start seriously strengthening your back and stomach muscles u will be in for an ongoing ride of pain ...

I had 1 herniated disc last Oct., I was out for months, it shows "healed" on the mri, but is still sore every now and then.
