Freestyle 2 New Builds for 2018 Xfr and 2He

I decided to sell both my Tigercraft V2 and my XScream Dvx this year and start off fresh in 2018 with new builds.

I hit up Taylor Curtis and talked to him for a long time about that I wanted out of my next hull. I ended up deciding on the xfr. I did want a super heavy hull and didn’t want to shell out the cash for a full carbon boat either. I asked about a Hybrid hull and he ended it talking to Rick and they are making me a carbon core boat. They have never made a carbon core xfr before so mine will be the first.

I’m going to be using a lot of the running gear from my v2 in the Rickter but I’m doing some upgrades. I sent my Dasa off to @tntsuperjet for a rebuild and port work. I’m still going to be using the h20 designs 155. I ditched the 46s and I think I’m going to bolt on the full spec 49s off my tpe 1200. Im going to test it on both my Tnt v3 and powerfactor pipe along with Atp Ts2.

I took advantaged the Black Friday sale and bought their complete ignition kit for the full year warranty. The first wave of parts came in Monday and I’m sure they will keep rolling in. Just figured up a timing map for the Ts2 today and I can’t wait to test it out

The helium will only be using the same motor and ignition out of the dvx but that’s it. I upgraded to a xs160 pump and I’m going to test out a set of the xs50 and xs52 carbs. If I decide I don’t like them I’ll probably go with Ed’s new full spec 50s he has out.

The Rickter is going to be blue and black and I decided on a royal purple with heavy flake on the helium with black graphics. Hopefully something like this but I was told I won’t get the size flake I want but I think it will still look awesome

You will be very please with what Tim sends you. I was lucky enough to have work done by him and the rebuild for my motor was done with heavy emphasis on done right. Lots of headaches he put up with on making sure the parts were right before getting it to me. I've seen in person how much porting he does. It is a lot. Your motor is gonna rip and I'm sure the Helium is going to look sick. I'm a big fan of flake too!

Worked on getting the rrp flowguard mounted and seeing what it will take to get it to work with my existing trim setup.

Ended up having to cut the steering arm off the nozzle and arm off the trim ring. All I need to do to the nozzle is have the steering arm welded back on up a little higher. On the trim ring I’m going to get some 3/8” stainless rod and shape it to work around the flowguard.

I watched Hiro’s youtube video on installing the Rrp flowguard. It was pretty straight forward. I was disappointed with the screws they supplied with the kit. Instead of using their flat Philips I picked up some stainless flat head allens.

Dropping in chopped glass and pouring in resin was the part that surprised me. Just like the video we test fitted then took it back apart and applied a mold release. Bolted the flowguard back on and used clay all the way around it and poured in about 4oz of poly resin. They made a point to say do not use epoxy resin. After it was cured it popped off super easy and has a perfect seal. I took a sanding drum and lightly cleaned up the edges

It's so the guard has a perfect seal around the reduction nozzle.

I assume so. It would keep any water from entering from the back or escaping if there is any blow by from the nozzle. It’s just what it said to do in hiro’s video.

How much it actually helps idk. If you look at the revolver hulls they have a flowguard that is built in to the design and part of the rideplate and they can use XScream trim.

All welded up thanks to @Yami-Rider. Should work great. Only thing I could possibly see that might be an issue is the hight of the trim arm. It isn’t really any higher that the top of the flowguard and it still had some room before it touches the hull when I bolted it on @yami-riders fv pro but if all else fails I have enough room to lower it down some.

There wasn’t enough clearance on the bottom of the flowguard to run the steering nozzle bolts XScream supplied. I took a couple socket cap bolts and turned the heads down to fit inside of the holes of the nozzle. I don’t have a lathe so I had to do it the poor mans way.

I can’t think of anything else I can do until one of my hulls get here. No idea on when my Rickter is going to be ready. Currently my helium is #11 in line.

Made a 360° Gopro helmet mount to keep me occupied. Used a couple pieces of aluminum tubing from Home Depot and a small caster. Mounting the caster was super simple. Just drilled a hole in the center and backed it up with a fender washer and a nylon lock nut. I tapped one end of the tubing for the bolt with the washers and on the other end I cut the head off a bolt to screw the 2 pieces together to get the length I wanted. Since I just bought a new GoPro 5 session during Black Friday amazon was nice enough to spy on me and suggested a aluminum GoPro tripod mount.

It seems to be balanced pretty well. Everything feels smooth. The way it’s mount it can go up and down and spin. Should be a pretty cool view. It’s not heavy on my head either. Now let’s hope it holds up to some crashes

@bradpatnaude played with some paint for me and this week and this is what we come up with. About spot on with with the idea I had in my head just with a little smaller flake. It’s going to match @coatney 110 Malibu pretty good. I’m definitely going to have to get a picture behind it airing it out!

There are still about 9 or 10 hulls in front of mine at XScream. I talked to TC this morning and the shipping container from rrp has been delayed 3 times already and it was supposed to be here a month ago. The good news is it shipped last week and since I’ll be at Daytona without a ski Taylor says I’m welcome to take a rip on theirs

Looks like I’m not going to get these skis built as soon as I had hoped

I’ve seen people install 2 extra motor mounts on a few skis and always thought it was a great idea. I don’t really want to break a motor mount and with the heavier billet cylinders I think it will help. @Watty was kind enough to send me a couple of these wings for the bed plates to weld on. I drove up to @Yami-Rider shop and we went to work.

I’ve had this 701 engine stand for a little while but never thought about bolting motor mounts to it until now.



Lined up the 2 extra motor mounts, measured to make sure they were even and marked holes. It sure did make alignment easy when everything was bolted down.



A couple tacks on each side then removed it from the mounts so we didn’t melt them.



When my hull gets here I need to mark the engine plates and cut the slots to maintain adjustability.
