Depends on the skis and truck. I can fit my SJ and my 440 in the bed of my 07 Ram. It's a short bed, so I have to leave the tail gate open. Problem is, with 2 skis, it's really hard to get them both tied down very well.

Does anybody carrie two standups in the back of their truck? How did you get them to fit? Pics would be helpful. Thank you.

We put two in the back of my brothers 08 Silverado pretty easily, all we do is set them both on two tires and it works out great. It lifts them up to clear the wheel wells and it protects the bottom of the skis somewhat. Sorry don't have any pictures.

'07 Tundra short bed. I fit a RN and SN side by side inside the wheel wells, fit them no problem.

I do know that that same combo will not fit in a chevy avalanche....

i can fit two into my chevy longbed no problem...just tilt them so the outside bondrail is partially up on the wheelwell and make sure the two inside bondrails are touching so paintjobs dont get gouged,..it works fine..

I carry my X2 and my superjet side by side in my B4000. I made a rig with 2x6 to get them above the fenderwells. Fits nice and snug.

You can see them in my truck in this picture. Just dont pay attention to the surgeon!

I wedge 2 skis in the back of my Toyota all the time. One ski (the light one) sits on 2 milk crates and is strapped down with a long ratchet strap going from the front bed tiedown, `both tow loops and to the rear bed tie point. The other ski is slid in next to it and tied down front and rear from the bow/stern tie points.

Note to self: Don't go camping in Canada :haha:

We've put a round nose and a 750sx in the back of a Dodge 2500 pickup with no problems.

I pack 2 skis in the bed of my 2002 dodge ram. I built a rack out of 6x6's with 2x4 bunks so I can fold up my TBM beach cart and slide it under the bunks. Last weekend I reinforced my bed bulkhead with angle iron and added two stainless hooks centered to the bunks so I can use a 4 pulley rope winch to pull the skis up easily at the end of the day. It works pretty slick and i am still tweaking it to get it even slicker.

Once I work a few more things out I'll post it up in a proper thread with better pics. We used the pulley this weekend for the first time and it worked awesome. I can put one foot on the corner of my bumper and pull the skis up easily enough that should I be injured, the girlfriend could even do it.

One man system.....AWESOME!
I am going to build the exact same rack you have there.
That is pretty ingenious and inexpensive. Kudos to you man!

Do you get your ski right from the beach cart onto the truck?

My truck is lifted so I will have to build a ramp. I am thinking to make it out of 4x4 or pipe,
as it would have to be long, so that I have enough of an angle to safely bring the ski onto the rack.

The pulley rope winch is good and I am still looking for alternatives.

Have you thought about a Manual electric winch?

You can power it right from your car using an inverter like this.

that winch is the coolest one i have seen. we currently use a come along. works great.
both superjets fit side by side each on 2x4s the tundra has a small wheelwell thats why i bought the truck only one like it. i do have to leave the tailgate down.

The rope winch was $50 and it takes less than 5 seconds per ski. Electric winches are just so slow and require maintenance, especially true in saltwater conditions like we see.

This whole concept was actually a trial for another project I had dreamed up.
I have an aluminum rigid tonneau/bunk system designed and soon to be built that slides into the back of the bed and will support two skis with the tailgate closed. The skis will be riding on tilting bunks with removeable extensions that could snatch a ski right from the ground. This system will likely have some sort of electric winch. I'm just sorting some design issues out with my builder but I'm hoping to have a prototype built for WaveDaze. Hoping to keep the build price under $1K and the weight under 125lbs.

Me & my boy drove from NJ to the Riot ride in GA & back with 2 in the back of my truck.
It was a ghetto rack built with scrap wood about 2hrs before I left for the trip
