Plan on having to replace the fuel pump (if it's never been done). The pump itself costs over $600.
The motor is great on gas and performs nicely when it runs. Unfortunately, it can be very finicky and difficult to diagnose/fix for the home mechanic due to the complicated high pressure fuel injection system and electronics.
A rebuild also isn't very easy for a reason I forgot - something to do with high temperatures and high compression. Seems you can't just bore up in size and expect to be fine.
I'd say if it runs good, has good maintenance records, and will not be used a lot - go for it.

For more advice, you should probably try www.pwctoday.com or www.greenhulk.net.
Maybe board member WFO Speedracer has some more advice, he knows his Seadoos.

PS: I fix skis on the side and I will not work on DI's. I don't have the tools for it.

There are other alternatives besides the stock fuel pump, it requires a bit of modding the stock housing but the pump is only around $125.00, the one I installed worked perfectly.

Like Matt said they are great as they run, the carb versions are simpler and gasp, faster !

I put a good used fuel pump in my 04 and fixed it, now I need to sell it! The theory is that the pump just breaks down early because of the high pressure required for DI and the lack of oil in the fuel like in diesels... So my plan was to run Lucas fuel injector cleaner in every tank to give the pump some kind of lubrication...

You could put a little old in the gas (tcw3) to couldn't you to give the fuel pump that little bit of lube? it'd run a little rich but thats fine haha

Where did you buy that pump?
And have you drive longer then a couple of hours?

I have an XPltd and RDdi. Both have been great (not that I ride them all that much). The di hasn't given me any problems, and the XPltd is a lot of fun for a big couch.
