2005 SXR cutting out

Hey guys, new to the forum and the stand up world. I just purchased a 2005 SXR from a guy who got it from a repo auction a couple years back. Currently runs great while on the trailer. But once its on the water it will run fine for about 30 seconds, and then fall on its face as if its entering a limp mode. It will idle fine, just cant go anywhere and get it to rev, it will just sit and stutter for about another 30 seconds, and then instantly return to normal, 30 seconds later, falls on its face. This will repeat itself consistently in equal 30 second or so intervals. Anyone know what could cause this? I want to think its a venting issue from the fuel tank. It has stock carbs which have been cleaned and rebuilt. It has a blowsion dual race fuel pickup (which I feel is unnecessary for a stock ski) and a primer set up that deletes the choke and the fuel on/off switch. One of the fuel feed nipples on the fuel pickup has been blocked off by the original owner, is this normal? Thanks for any input.

It looks like the water routing might be wrong, the photo is hard to tell. Shoot a photo down near the driveshaft coupler with the the engine in scope.

It sounds like your temp sensor is working, so DO NOT try disconnecting it. Sometimes they short out and go into limp mode, where you can't rev up.

Check that folded over fuel line coming off the tank, it should be zip tied if it's not the vent, otherwise get a one way valve. (The Fuel Pickup is not stock, so I don't what's what)

Ok, so the clear braided line you see goes from alongside the driveshaft coupler and hooks underneath the exhaust. The green line goes from the very top of the exhaust and hooks up to the left of the ignition box. The red line labeled #1 goes from the rear of the head to the squirter at the left front of the hull. And the red line labeled #2 runs from the front of the head to the top of the exhaust, just below where the green hooks up to. Hope I made that easy to understand. Thanks for any input you have

I have an oem fuel pickup that I will also be installing to get rid of the aftermarket blowsion. As well as a new ignition coil with new plug wires and boots. Hoping one of these will solve the problem!

Is your Fuel Selector in the Tray unhooked or removed? You're missing a second fuel pickup for the reserve.

I would invest in all new fuel and water lines(to remove blockages and add uniformity) Then re-run and route all of them as they should be. Since it might be a cooling issue, I would check flow through each engine component. You can do this with a AIR hose on very low and just make sure air comes out the other uncovered hole(s). I pulled half a plant out of my 550 block one summer at the beach.

Try to find photos of stock cooling. You only have an aftermarket head from the looks of it. Check the compression, you might not even need dual head cooling.

Yes the original owner deleted the fuel selector switch. All fuel lines have been replaced, water lines are next. I will try the air hose trick and see what happens. Do my water lines appear to be routed correctly?

Ya the water routing is wrong you have no cooling going thru the pipe both of those lines are coming in. So there is no flow to cool it, making the over heat sensor put it into limp mode

I had that same Blowsion fuel pickup and one of the dip tubes fell out. They are lightly pressed in the top block. Also your venting is blocked. Must be fixed. Get the OEM pressure relief and vacuum valves. I changed to ADA pickup. Or stock works fine.
