Buy a Sea-Doo. No waiting list (except for the repairs), and you can run all them pesky superjets over and over again every time you are outta the shop. It's a fun game.

Ya, but after one season your waiting time for shop repairs exceeds the waiting list for three new 08 Superjets.

I would stick with 07 or earlier for freestyle. The new hull looks to be set up to run bouy's with the SXR. Yamaha is tired of getting stomped on race day!! I would ride the 08 before I bought one. Stick with, TRIED-TESTED AND TRUE!!! Buy a modded 1996 to 2007. Blowsion has a few nice ones!!

If you haven't been on one you are speaking prematurely. Remember when the SXR came out, "It looks too big and it's a Kawasaki, it can't handle." Or when the STXR started racing, "That thing has a four stroke and is too big" Change is nothing to be scared of. All I do is freestyle with a bit of freeride in surf (5-6 x a year) The new jet will be the new standard. It is still a superjet it just reswponds better to changing directions.

As for racing...Check the entries, I'm sure Yamaha has. The regional turnouts are diminishing each year. In the states racing is on the decline. Yamaha cares about making money selling units and delivering a quality product. They do both as well as any company in our sport, better than most.

wait!!! there is a waiting list? meaning i cant walk into a dealer and buy it????

08's won't be in showrooms till either late this year or early next year. it isn't like cars where the next model year is out in the fall of the year before

your best bet is to go to riva in pompano as they will probably bve getting the first ones in

How much $ are you saving by going to a '07 vs. '08? If the difference is noticeable I would go with the '07. The '08 model is basically the same ski As it has always been. They put an analog ignition(you would probably go with a MSD anyways), sponsons on the hull(which you can buy at blosion), a stainless prop.(you would probably go with a different pitch anyways. I would go with the '07 or just buy a used SJ. Your going to safe alot of money for the same ski

If it were up to me, I would buy a already pimped out superjet...one of those that somebody put 15,000 into but are selling it for 5,000. But thats just my opinion.

Well, I made the final decision. Our dealership has 1 2008 SJ arriving on the 1st. I figure as I get better I will slowly upgrade the 08' as needed.

Anything I need to upgrade right away, or should I upgrade as I wear parts out?

There are tons of threads on mods here. If you are new keep it simple. Start with handling and steering, these items will not void your warranty. Also Hydroturf, grips, chinpad or cover will also not affect the warranty. As the warranty expires you may consider a pipe and head.

You will have to make the decisions on what is important to you, opinions on what to change first will vary greatly depending on who you are talking to.

GREAT CHOICE!!!!!
