The SJ turf sucks, really slippery. It's definetly not Hydro-Turf. It's too bad Kawasaki doesn't make a freestyle stand up. They use Hydro turf, a decent impeller and put fins on their intake.
For someone who wants to buy and leave it all stock, SXR is they way to go. There really are no "must do" mods needed.
My brand new 2006 Supjet cost me around $7300, although I am putting in footholds too.

I don't get why they can't at least throw the Waveblaster impeller on it :bs2:

It's beyond my comprehension as well. The SJ has been the ONLY ski in the entire Yahama line for SEVERAL years that doesn't have a stainless impeller. For Pete's sake, my 2002 XL700 has a stainless impeller on it.

The stock turf on a Superjet is nice... until it gets wet then you're sliding all over the place! I remember a while back talk of them hydro turfing the SJ... never happened though... as far as the stock Superjet is concerned I think it is fine... if people buy it who aren't as into the sport as we are and just want it to mess around on it is fine... no ski is set for freestyle right out of the box, everyone knows that! And no ski will ever be built that is up to everyone on X-h2o.com's standards!

Actually it did happen, for at least one year, I figured they still did it.

The stock intake grate is acceptable IMO if you use it with a stainless impeller, not that POS hunk of aluminum.

it never came w/ Hydro Turf
