2008 SJ & Hooker Prop

Shifty

- SuperJet Thursday -
My girlfriend just bought a STOCK '03 Super Jet and the stock prop is thrashed (missing chunks). It cavitates in a bad way and needs a replacement. I have an '08 SJ with the STOCK stainless cutback impeller and was wondering first if this prop would swap over without headache to the '03.

Secondly, is this hooker prop worth the $250 as I have read the '08's stock impeller is not bad to begin with because of the setback pump and all. What pitch is recomended, I think my ski could use a little more power down low as it stands.

Running: Limited pipe & 185psi Head

Note: I have the stock CDI, though it is supposed to have a slightly higher RMP limit than pre 2008 models.

Thanks in advance,

Yes, the impellers are interchangeable between all years SJ.

that is correct sir! that's the beauty of the sj.

From what I hear, the hooker prop is the shizzle!! Although the stock prop does work quite well:bananalama:

The Stock 08' Stainless Prop will be a great improvement over the damaged one. If her prop has chunks out of it what does here Stator veins look like?

I havn't looked that far back as of yet, although I never thought about what damage could be lurking.

From the description you gave of the underside of the hull and of the impeller. I wouldn't be surprised to find the stator section missing a few chunks too. Fortunately those are all easy fixes. All in all it still a fine score.

Looks like I will be getting a hooker, my old lady's even chucking in $75.00 toward her, she's a real sport! One of the guys at Impros recomended a few but these #'s dont seem right. I forgot which order they were in but I think it was like this

11/17 for low end

9/15 for high end

10/16 for in the middle

I guess I need to talk to Dave himself.

What would you guys think, I would like to improve my bottom end and keep the high the same.... impossible? Even with an aftermarket prop?

Note: I have the stock CDI, though it is supposed to have a slightly higher RMP limit than 96 - 2007 models.

The 9/15 is definitely the better impeller for bottom end and the 11/17 is for top end (as long as you have the motor to spin it well).

Dave recommends the 9/15 for stock to strong limited setups.
