I did not bring the ski to them. I just brought them the carbs, but they said that's all I would need. This sucks! Anyone know a good place to have my cylinders bored and honed around Delray Beach, Pompano Beach area. I don't even know how to look for one besides Riva.

Kevin can hook you up with that as well.

If you put in v force reeds you will need to pressure test the engine, likely not the cause but needs to be checked

You need to have someone look at the cyl and pistons. Any good engine builder can tell you why it siezed from looking at the pistons so it doesn't happen again

Pressure test engine? The engine was never rebuilt, it's a brand new 2008! Here are some pictures. The first shot is not my boat, but it looks exactly like my set up, same water routing and everyting. I did run water out of the back of the pipe and water out of the head. My only water in is the stock waterline coming into the manifold. This is what wamalton's told me to do and is the same set up they run, however they do the dual cooling from the pump and run two lines into the manifold.

If the intake manifold was removed to install reeds and the carbs were removed then you probably should pressure test it for leaks in the intake tract. I have seen air leaks around the intake several times when building an engine. This is not a hard thing to do and you will have peace of mind that it is not you problem.

If your rpm range is significantly raised by aftermarket modifications bolt-on's you need to increase your mix ratio to a least 40:1

On your next overbore have them increase the piston clearance to .0045~.005" with cast pistons or to .005~.006" with pressure forged pistons for the additional heat build-up from your mods.

Pull the carbs apart and double check your jetting and if the taper proof caps are still installed, now would be a good time to remove them.

It would also help if you filled your intake manifold cross-over to increase the signal to the fuel pump at high rpm.

Also when your engine is back together make sure you pressure test it for air leaks.

wow, you are taking this well! and asking intelligent questions to boot!

I agree on kicking up the ratio to 40:1

sorry that you are having some bad luck in the beginning.....seeing as youre having it bored anyhow now might not be a bad time to think about a bit of f/s porting as well!

oh, and get rid of that MSD coil as well and toss the stocker back in....

Ok so I went to Wammer's shop yesterday and he was very cool about everything. He let me work in his shop and rebuild my entire motor. I did not bore the cylinders however I did use his drill bit hone tool and got them almost perfect. I used a set of OEM pistons fresh out of a brand new boat he had there. I opened the highs another half turn and added dual cooling pump side and manifold side. I hope this works better. All and all it took me about 5 hours yesterday to run the cooling and rebuild the engine.
