SXR 2008 SXR Upgrade ?'s

I just estimated when i put the price on there....ballparked high if anything. when they say aftermarket steering kit, i believe they mean all the bearings and turnplate...etc. I know my stock stuff would not have worked on the setup i have. Im not sure what steering kits work or dont work on the setup. I just went xscream all the way :usa2:

sorry to thread jack a little here

THREAD JACK? if anything this is what I expected from starting this thread. I will get an X scream over RRP now because of your advice, so for that i thank you. I thought they meant total aftermarket steering but I wasn't sure. I think the X scream setup is $175

I would say buy a dry pipe, I've owned both and the dry is far superior for power....shim is correctly and it won't crack. Buy a pipe used, no need to spend a grand on something you can find for 500 bucks

I think you have to drill some holes through your hull and use bolts and washers to get it to mount flush. I've seen it done, but didn't look close.

I just burned up my Electrical system...so I'm gonig to try it too.

Dry pipe is way better, no questions asked. I have had three dry pipes and put plenty of hours on all of them, none of which have cracked. Rode plenty of mild and fully built skis with wet pipes and they just don't compare.

Keep the stock pole for now, buy a pipe, whichever one you may choose. You can find used stock poles for $125 or so. I recommend picking up an extra one so you're not stuck on the beach waiting to find a new pole when your's finally does break. You can swap poles in less than 30 minutes, and it beats the snot out of dropping $600 or more on aftermarket one until you are financially ready to drop the cash. A back up stock pole is better than a ski sitting with a broken pole that cannot be ridden.

Mill your stock head. Keep it pump gas. Ride and have fun.
