Freestyle 2010 Bob vs. Krash Footrocket

I am looking to upgrade to something more freestyle oriented after 2 years on my Group K Superjet.

I knew this was going to happen and honestly probably should have just bought a freestyle ski from the start, but here we are. Essentially, I have gotten bored and am itching to learn flips and other flatwater freestyle. I mainly chase wake boats now on my Superjet. I do not ride surf.

So, I am leaning towards selling the Superjet and just saw a 2010 Bob with a Yamaha 7xx (I don't know exactly what engine it has, just that it has "Got factory b pipe, high compression head"). The other option I have been considering is a Krash Footrocket, but one new enough to have the 1200 engine and upgraded electronics.

At the moment I am stuck in analysis paralysis and not really sure what to do. It doesn't help that I have 0 friends with skis and have never ridden anything but my Superjet. Please let me know what you think the better choice would be here. The Bob is a little bit cheaper but not by much. It would be about $7k for the Bob or $8.5k for the Footrocket.

Looks like a Nice ski. Where at and how much?

To answer you question, the people I see doing flips and other flat water freestyle tricks are mostly riding rickter XFS , revolver V2, or an xscream hull. I know there are a few more but those are the most popular around here

My opinion would be if you want to go to strictly freestyle type riding to sell the ski outright. If you want to stick to 'mostly' all around with more freestyle-focused boat chasing, I would take the powerplant out of your hull, sell that as-is for 2500-3k or so and find yourself a drop-in ready AM hull setup like a hybrid Rickter or Tigercraft. Lots of TC's have been showing up for sale for a reasonable price too. That way you're not too out of pocket for a decent setup and you know it will be reliable.

Im gonna agree with Stu on this one, I would trade that Superjet for neither of the mentioned skis. Don't go down the rabbit hole, I WISH I could get all my money back I spent on fancy aftermarket everything. Was it worth it? No, not at all. Ride the Superjet and be happy. If anything, buy a nice hull and use all the parts from this Superjet. I can pretty much guarantee you would regret getting rid of this ski for the others. A nice aftermarket hull will be the best switch up for you, built up with parts from your Superjet. Then if you like your new hull, sell the Superjet hull and get a few dollars back

You couldnt pay me enough to ride a Bob hull personally. Between the Bob and the krash, I'd go with the krash all day but as others said, there's much better options out there. No hull is completely perfect in every regard, they all have pros and cons. Personally, for ride quality and looks, it's hard to beat a superfreak badass.

I would stay away from the bob for sure. I bought a brand new FootRocket hull and stripped everything off my Super Jet to build it. I’m pretty happy with the outcome so far I don’t like the fact that you can smash your knee really easily on the dash of the Krash hull and I’ve had to start wearing knee pads when I ride it . I do love how it shreds waves and leaps really high with ease. It’s harder for me to board than the Super Jet but it’s pretty stable when you get up on it and you can ride WOT depending on your engine setup.

I rode a 100% stock SJ for a couple years on a large lake chasing our wakeboard boat. I took the engine out and built a Rickter RS1 (or RS2). Hated it. I had Kommander build me a Kommander S1 with a twin carb factory pipe setup (very simple). That ski was perfect. Much lighter than a SuperJet, handles like a race ski yet you could launch it in the air. It was literally a ski that could do it all. Unfortunately I had a hip issue and sold it after 2yrs. I think those skis were pretty rare though. I preferred to jump the wake then intermittingly go cut turns as hard as I could then head back to the boat wake.

I am in MD and I am looking for somewhere around $6k for the SJ. The engine build and associated parts that went in at the same time were somewhere around $4k so I am hoping that $6k for everything is a fair price. It really does run great and has never given me issues in the 2 years I have owned it.

I do like the SJ and will be sad to see it go, but I am definitely getting bored on it and itching for some flatwater/wake freestyle. I want to flip! lol

There is an EME Q8 Sky hull for sale near me that I was considering. I have been reading reviews on it and it seems to be highly regarding for someone learning to flip like me. Does anyone have input on that hull for flatwater freestyle?

I am not sure what the above ^^ means, but does anyone have any input on the EME Q8 Sky hull? Everything I am reading seems to suggest it would be a good choice for learning freestyle. Assuming it is in good condition all around, what would be a good price for it?

ive never ridden a eme hull before. did have a friend that bought a eme q8 for a short time. it ran a kawi driveline. everything was designed a little different on that ski. the handle pole bracket was basically bolted to the sides of the hull and the handle pole was between it. that i wasnt a fan of. he got the hull and built it up with a 750, sxr factory pipe, and did his first flip in the surf on it the short time it ran haha. he didnt have it very long and bought something else. he now has a tigercraft v2 aquabot.

I have heard good reviews about the Tigercraft, it is just hard to find good stuff for sale that isn't halfway across the country.
