SXR 2011 SXR blew up after 2 hours of use

Location
STL
Im not saying that hydrolocking cant break a rod, Im just saying it is unlikely due to my experience and hearing how the oem cranks are pretty tough. Mine survived an ocean hydrolock and a few freshwater hydrolockings and it has been running strong for 3 years so far since the first one

I guess im suggesting it was just simply a bad part... Maybe the rod was machined poorly to start and never should have passed inspection and it just failed

Please post some photos. I'm curious if there are water spots everywhere from water getting inside your hood? If you don't have an air intake block off kit you can accumulate enough water to cause major problems.

In 2006 my riding bros sister bought a brand new 06 sx-r. She had about 6 hours on the ski and while out cruising with us, she let go. Probably about 3/4 throttle at about 35mph. Long story short we towed her in and looked under the hood...it threw a rod so bad that it nearly cut the motor in half, broke the starter off so it was laying in the bottom of the ski....ruined the whole exhaust even.

Took it to the dealer and same thing, month wait and then deny warranty...after being quoted at a 4900 dollar repair bill. After about two weeks of fighting they brought a lawyer in the mix, after sometime Kawi finally gave in..which they should have.

I saw the ski blow up just cruising around, was never sunk and never saw a drop of water injestion.
