I used shmity1's cable on my stock turnplate. The turnplate just holds the ball mount for the cable. You don't NEED an aftermarket steering setup to make it work, but it helps to get the most throw from the new cable. I mounted the cable to the outermost hole on the turnplate and did the quicksteer mod on the nozzle and got tons more throw when I ran the stock turnplate.

The black looks sweet, congrats. If that's your couch beside it, I HIGHLY doubt you'll be using it anymore. Mine as well sell it and mod the sh*t out of your superjet.

Haha, ya thats my RXP beside it. That one is for all the friends/bro/sister that dont like to be falling in the water and swimming back to a ski all day. Ya when i bought it they priced me out the door tt&r. Should be getting my numbers soon (just have the temporary sheet that stays with the ski for now). Bought it from central yamaha up in Plano.

OHHH and this weekend was the first time i really got to ride it and WOOOW, the steering does suck ace... My sxr turns so much quicker so a new cable/steering system is definitely going to be the first thing i do. A dual bilge system will be the second as i was surprised there wasnt a drain plug in the back like my sxr. I was shocked though that i couldn't even break it loose to do a 180 b/c of the steering. Do people plug the front intake holes and just run with the back intakes? I normally do some good fountains on the sxr and didn't want to yet on this as i would'nt have a way of getting the water out yet (besides the stock siphon).

I was lucky to actually be able to find one. I called all around DFW and no one had any. Supposedly there was like 1500 orders and only like less than half of those actually got built.

Oh, i keep remembering things. So after that first tank i starter to enjoy her a little more and was hitting some big boat waves this weekend. Turns out i'm not used to really launching (the 04 sxr really is that much heavier), so 90% of the time i stayed in the tray just pressing my feet against it. Well the one time i went big and floated out of the tray it did not feel good landing. Nailed my shins on the back of the tray and almost really ate the chin pad. Did not feel good. That'll be the third mod for sure (footholds).

You'll be able to break it loose "180" with more riding, i also thought it was the steering when i first bought it, but it definitely isn't the steering, you just have to figure out where to position your weight and the perfect speed/throttle. Keep at her and you'll have it figured out.

Huh, interesting... Now i feel like i've gotta do it before i upgrade the steering haha. Ya its easy for me to do on the sxr but obviously i've been riding that a while. Maybe its b/c i was still taking it pretty easy and not getting after it. I shall log some more hours on her soon and figure it out.

Once you get more aggressive on it, you'll do it all the time. I almost have a hard time turning without it sliding out lol. Try leaning the opposite direction of your turn to even out the ski, and she should whip around.

Ok i'm about to order my steering stuff, this is what i'm thinking:
1. CF steering system
2. RRP riser bars with ODI grips
3. CF throttle
4. shmity cable
Does that completely take care of the setup? Do i run shmitys cable or just snag a pre-08 cable for like half the price?! I'm still practically broke from buying it but the stock steering is a joke. I also snagged a bilge kit from OCD, cant spray the docks doing my fountains until thats in, haha.
