Super Jet 2014 SJ steering

Who really knows the simplest way to make 08+ superjets steering not suck? I understand the cable doesn't have as long of sliding motion so it maxes out easier. But I've been told you have to put a different pole on it. I don't see why? Can't ya just get a pre 08 steering cable and run aftermarket turn plate and use any notch you want?

The cable mounts at a different locations on 08-14 vs 96-07 poles. If you were able to fabricate a way to mount your 96-07 cable on 08+ pole then it would work for you but it's not plug and play.

I have a 08 and a 13; had all sorts of ideas going through my head on how to make the steering better and I noticed a big difference by just tapping that outside hole on the turnplate; I am no pro by any stretch, maybe its because I've tried to slide the ski stock for so long that this small change felt so different? Just my 2 cents, cheers

Right on thanks guys!
Bajadave, I saw that hole and planned on threading it and using it. It will totally make a difference! Not enough for me but definitely better than nothin for the mean time. Thanks bro

Steerings the first thing I tried tackling on my '13 sj. I found even w/ an a/m pole the steer radius has more to give.

I drilled a hole closer I towards nozzle and it gave me a few more degrees

Last 2 nailed it... easiest way is relocate pivot closer to center of the nozzle... I also got a cold fusion short turn plate, still using oe cable so I don't have the throw on the plate set to max, it stops just shy of bottoming cable out.. might do schmidty cable this winter..

Yea I was thinking a shorter turn plate would allow you to put the cable on a far to the outside notch. I just can't afford a new pre08 cable and aftermarket pole right now so I'm trying to get it better for free right now

Forgot to add I also upgraded to the 97-06 cable which helps a few inches. Still tweaking it and might try switching the reduction nozzle to pre-08 so I can try other steer nozzles

Do you recall what the thread pitch of the ball joint was? I am going to do this and just need to pick up the correct drill and tap.

I have no idea but just take that ball head bolt to a store who has thread checkers if ya don't have one. That's what I'm going to do... To figure out which tap to buy. I haven't yet done this yet. It isn't going to do much for the steering but better than nothing until the pole and cable swap happens
