All of those fiberglass hulls had some visual carbon on the hood. Many have assumed carbon and it being light, but quite the contrary. Unless it was some rare carbon core prototype or something weird, but I've never seen anything like that.

Carbon look is just for looks, but no weight savings like a carbon core would be. My 16 XFR had some exposed carbon, but was still a heavy fiberglass hull.

The only way to really know if there is a lightweight version would be to weigh it.

Yeah I know all about it! I was just stating it as a possibility not being Carbon Core as it wasn’t available at the time

So, did you know how beat up this hull was when you listed it as a "low hours" "barely ridden" "very clean ski", or did Rocky lie to you too?

This thing has some kind of damage on just about every surface. I'm pissed. Slices in the graphics layer, boat ramp rash on the chines, ripped (horribly installed) turf, chipped and scratched gelcoat, bubbling and peeling gelcoat..

Lesson learned on this one. I got ripped off big time. I saw exactly TWO photos of this hull before buying it, the one posted here and one other angle on TC's instagram. You said you would get more, but I'm guessing Rocky told you not to send me any because he knew he'd be caught lying and lose his leverage to stay firm on price... not a chance in hell I would have paid 7k for this setup if I had seen it in person first. I made my decision to buy it based on both yours and Rocky's description of the hull. Rocky said it was "like brand new" with maybe 5-10 hours on it... he said it's one of the cleanest hulls I would ever find. Despite offering the asking price, which when you listed stated the pole and steering were included (before you edited the title and your posts), Rocky decided he didn't want to include the pole for that price and for some reason kept citing the build/assembly quality as being so perfectly done it makes it worth more....it's not....

When I wouldn't offer him more money to include the pole, he begin insisting that he wanted to sell the hull as a package deal with a "brand new dasa 900 top end" that he got because he's friends with people at Dasa... he then changed his story and said he got it as an extra in a previous trade... spoiler... The cylinder is not brand new, only the pistons are, but he did at least send me pix of that so I knew the cylinder was used before buying it... I figured I would either build the motor or try to sell the parts for what I paid for them, if I had to buy the top end to buy the hull/pole for asking price then so be it. I wanted the hull enough to offer the listed price in the first place, and REALLY wanted it once he convinced me it was like new and pristine.

I wasn't able to attend world finals in Havasu where the ski was located because it was my 40th birthday and my parents were in town from out of state. I sent cash with my friend who was going to be down there and he and another friend agreed to receive the hull and bring it home for me. They were under the impression I had been made aware of the condition of the hull and assumed I had seen detailed pix of it and that I was ready to move forward with the purchase so long as all of the items that were supposed to be included were there and the title was legit etc. They were not there to inspect or negotiate based on what they saw. They were there to hand over cash and receive the hull + motor parts. When Rocky brought the hull to their Air BNB, my buddy hopped on the phone and mentioned that the hull had a few visual things here and there, but nothing that was structural. I assumed it had gotten some scuffs from being stored on a shop stand uncovered at Worx racing for who knows how long (it was for sale for over a year), and I figured I could buff out or hide scuffs with decals.

As soon as I saw the ski, I immediately realized I was lied to because the hull clearly wasn't in new condition. It only got worse once I got it home and started to look it over.

When I started sending pictures of all the damage to Rocky, he got very defensive and claimed he showed everything to my friends. He did not ONCE acknowledge the fact that what he told me was not true, instead he kept insisting that he showed all the damage to my friends (who again, were not there to inspect or negotiate as they believed I was already made aware of the true condition of the ski)... Then he kept saying "its just cosmetic, it's only in the graphic layer" as if somehow "like new condition" somehow excludes cosmetic appearance...but the thing is, it's NOT just cosmetic damage in the graphics layer. This boat was almost certainly beached on a boat ramp, there is rash through the gelcoat. He claims the bottom got scraped from his scissor stand and from loading it on his pontoon boat... again, never mentioned in the whole "omg it's so beautiful it's like new omg omg" phase of the sales pitch. Unless his pontoon boat is made out of rocks and concrete, he's full of it and he knows it.

I let Karma deal with people like him. I'm sure I'm not the first person he's ripped off, and I'm sure I wont be the last...but someone will.
