2015 Superjet Release

They just updated the website, nothing changed, just like the 2014. I'm happy they are still making it, but wish they would do something because the market is coming back.

I read once here they sell a lot in Australia.

What would you like them to do different? I have been on a few now and think they are great stock skis. The throttle is very snappy and responsive. They have a prop, -2 pole, and sponsons. The only thing I'd like changed is quicker steering...they don't want to be turned flat at all. These things like speed and being layed over. I think its nice for aggressive freeriding but would love it stockd with pre 08 quick steer.

It would be cool if they did something with the motor. It has been the same for 18 years. It's a good motor don't get me wrong, but something with more power would be cool.

I feel like your power level depends on where you are at...stock 62t/61x power with the 08+ prop is pretty freakin good especially for the beginner...if you are going brand new superjet spend another 800 bucks for a bpipe and well...there ya go.

would it be too much to ask for adjustable footholds and make them a little less weak? the first thing everyone does is reinforce them. the steering issue has also been everyones biggest complaint since 2008. They haven't changed anything but color schemes in 7 years. I guess Yamaha doesn't listen to its customer base, nor do they give a damn about improvement. for the price they are a waste of $$$. Just my 2 cents.

This is a copy of the message I sent to the guy on oz-freeride that said he was going to have the ear of the yamaha reps soon. Never got a reply though.

I know a lot of people make suggestions that are not realistic to the discussion, such as factory RRP style poles. While that would be nice, I like to stick with ideas that might actually happen. I also wouldn't expect these changes to happen at once, but rather a slow evolution that stretches the investment. Lastly, I understand that the ski has to be versatile, while I like my ski with a short pole, my wife hates it because she is 7" shorter than me, for an example.

Minor modification to turn plate to accept straight bars (just the placement of the tap, but not actually come with straight bars.)
Minor modification to the turn plate steering cable mount to allow increased steering throw.
back to pre-08 steering cable and pole.
4* bars stock (I prefer 0* but not everyone will like them)
Shorten turn plate by 1", like UMI, to reduce the long sweep.
Improve the casting of pole bracket and pole base, they both crack with minimal abuse.
Improve the strength of the stock pole spring.
Increase size of throttle cable so it doesn't break so easy.
Improve pole lock so they bend less easy.

Add 3rd cooling fitting so upgrade to dual cooling can be done with keeping stock bilge (shipped capped but present).
Capped trim tube with GYTR part available aftermarket to upgrade to up trim or drop nozzle. (Don't believe this will happen)
Make the rear bond rail smaller, as water traveling down the bond line that hits the rear bond rail causes a rocking that feels like chine walk, but is actually an issue with the rear bond rail. 08+ issue
Improve mounting of stock bond rail bumpers.
Widen tray by narrowing gunnels tray side.

Close the front air intakes in the hood, and open up the back intakes to make up for the loss.
Add drain plug to left side to drain engine compartment.
Switch to better foam that wont water log, like the stuff in the hood.
Add dry compartment for registration paperwork (could be as simple as a slight modification to extinguisher holder, the cap could have a cap)

Stainless prop. Too much cavitation with bulky aluminum.
Lower stock pop-off pressure in carbs.

Someone mentioned dual 44mm carbs stock. I do not want that. I have a 718 limited and I like my dual 38mm carbs. The OEM airbox keeps the engine dry and the smaller carbs make good power while using almost no fuel (in comparison). 44mm carbs use a lot more fuel compared to the small increase in power.

I would love to see additional things, but I know they would happen...
I would love a SJ-R model with a GP1200 motor in it, or a SJ-X model based on the pre-08 with a 800 PV motor and hull modifications, but I know neither will happen. A lowered hood / pole / nose piece and an improved hood seal would also be great, but I also do not believe those would happen. Factory trim would also be nice, but unlikely, however, I do believe a trim tube with a GYTR upgrade kit could be profitable for Yamaha. At the end of the day, they have to make money.

I believe the lack of success of the YFZ450R quad showed that true racers and free riders wont keep stock no matter how good it is. I am a recreational rider. I use my superjet for surf, flatwater and racing. I do not want rockered noses, etc. I believe the loss of versatility will hurt the brand (edit, unless they offer two hull models).

Have it come with a bpipe on it and possible mag pump. Like an octane did. And have it come with a head or at least have a miller stock one am the second cooling line already ran.

Lol. Obviously everyone with a superjet is on xh20 and wants to barrel roll. You guys are silly and unrealistic

This is wha the aftermarket is for. If the skis came built, half Of you so called "riders" wouldn't even be able to ride them. Ahahahahaanahaha

There are a lot of improvements that could be made that would cost yamaha almost nothing that would improve the ski for all potential buyers.

A few things I mentioned. Called dual cooling tube (almost free), GYTR trim kit (potential for upgrade revenue), stronger pole casting, return to 2007- steering (probably free).
