You are not allowed to change the OEM reeds in the IJSBA Lites class.
Removing the middle layer in the OEM 760 head gasket puts you under the minimum thickness.

I must be thinking Stock Spec. If Lites doesn't allow replacement petals then that's unfortunate.

I still don't see where it allows a 760 head.

As far as ive ever read lites does not allow any other cylinder head except for oem and you must use oem reeds. Stock spec is just slightly different and it makes things confusing. when i put mine together I got the .032 base gasket and the proper headgasket from gasket tech in Havasu

Reed petals are technically an engine seal (as it won't run without them), and seals are allowed to be aftermarket, so one could argue that the rule is poorly defined. Running stainless reeds doesn't bother me as much as the price tag Yamaha wants to replace them. Reed petals alone won't win or lose a race. o_O

Either way, it looks like that's my mistake in interpreting Lites versus Spec. Most regional promoters use Spec rules. Lites seems like it's only run at Finals.

Clearly I need to re-measure a 2-layer modified 64X head gasket. I don't recall it being under the rules but I must be wrong. This is another place where Spec is better.

Thanks for that. They need to update the rulebook, not just a blog/website post that's harder to find.

Update: Found the link: http://www.ijsba.com/ijsba-pre-summer-update-and-recap-of-south-american-championships/

It was originally posted in 2014 in the 'International News' section before the website was updated recently. Good luck finding it today short of a Google search or knowing about it beforehand. Three years later and it isn't mentioned in the rulebook. It's no wonder so many haven't heard about it.
