2016 SJ carb mixture screws

Hello,

I see the mixture screws are capped on my new 2016 SJ. Looks like I need to pull the carbs from the engine, and separate them, in order to be able to drill out and remove the 4x caps?

After 5 hours run time I see the MAG side is fairly rich on the high speed based on the plug and piston wash so I would like to check all screw positions.

Is there just one paper gasket under the carbs that I need to replace after pulling them? I'll order the OEM parts before I begin.

Atlantic jet sport says with their t-handle screws the choke needs to be removed. Theirs look like Pro-Tec rebrands, so is that also true for the Pro-Tec screws? I do not want to remove the choke.
Will the Mikuni genuine 'cross bar adjusters' work with the choke in place?
If I just order the same screws from my '99, will they install in the 2016 carb? Those don't require the choke to be removed and work fine with a screwdriver.
It looks like the only clearance issue is the mag side high speed screw, where the choke mechanism rotates by. The others are wide open.

The Mikuni cross-bar (t-handle) parts are BN38/477 (low speed) and BN44/167 (high speed). The entire set can be had for $25, seems like a no brainer for made in Japan parts (versus Pro-Tec and such for $50+). Maybe people just don't know about the Mikuni parts as an option?

Also, I just realized I can buy the same parts that are in my 99 (proud screw head style) from Mikuni direct and save quite a bit over the Yamaha prices.

keep it simple
you will just need to replace the one gasket below the carbs.

some of the plugs are a real PITA to get out and some come out super easy. Just drill a hole in the plug and lodge a sheet metal screw into it. Then clamp it in the vice and try to wiggle them out. I've had to mill them out before if they are too difficult. use heat if you need to but make sure there isn't any gas in the carbs if you do.

Get the long handle t screws (just bought some from jetmaniac). I think they are the ones your are talking about.

you do have to remove the choke just replace it with a primer.

And I have to separate the carbs to remove the two plugs between them (high speed on the MAG, low speed on the PTO)? Don't think I would have a straight shot at them otherwise.

I've drilled and removed the plugs on a different carb with that same process. I'll order the new lower gasket and give it a try.

Ok great, thanks! I was hoping it was simple so I didn't have to re-time them. I'll post up pics when I get it done since I didn't come across any guides.
