Surfriding 2017 spring LSFR - Port-Aransas April 27-30th

Location
Houston
Sounds like a great time -- Ive not been in the surf yet and I'm trying to work out the details to join. Is there anyone I can reach out to in order to get some info on potential camping on the beach, good stuff to bring, what I might expect to break, etc?

Hey Tony. If you have an enclosed trailer or a toy hauler, just drive it on the beach and set up camp. Otherwise bring a tent and the usual camping stuff. As for parts breaking, I break something different every trip. You never really know. Bring a replacement nozzle set, rideplate, and plugs. Not sure how new your stuff is or what you are riding, but I would recommend making a trip out to Galveston or surfside before the port a ride. All kinds of little stuff pops up when you get out in the salt water (mainly electrical). I'm usually riding surfside on Sunday or Monday. Let me know if you want to meet up and ride.

Nate - surfside as a checkout trip would be great. What time would you be looking this Sun or Monday? My number is 614.747.1796 if you want to shoot me a text or call.

The weed has started rolling in... not sure how bad it will be by next week.

It wasn't too bad last weekend.

Is anyone planning on riding sunday or will everyone be packing up and heading home? Trying to decide whether to stay Saturday night or head back.

Not sure myself either. Sunday afternoon the wind is predicted to turn off shore which should make for some really clean sets. I'm pretty sure after dealing with the 8' blown out waves on Saturday, I'm not going to have anything left in me to ride Sunday.

If it's supposed to clean up Sunday I'll probably stay then, was going to make it a fri/sat trip, may do a sat/sun instead. Nate- Tony told me you are from the Alvin area?

Sunday is going to be the best day probably. Swell is still holding at 5' with a nice offshore wind. Saturday is going to be a mess. I can't remember the last time I saw an 8-10' swell hit the gulf outside of a hurricane. Going to be like Daytona two years ago on Sunday.

Yeah, I'm out of Alvin. I ride Surfside mainly. Occasionally clear lake/creek, but not often.

Yeah it's been a while since I've seen anything clean over 4ft here, last time it was when Ike was coming into the gulf. I'm from Alvin also, there's about 5 of us that regularly ride near San Luis pass, 8mile or clear creek every weekend.

I've probably seen you guys at the creek at some point. I ride right off of beach access 4 in surfside/follets island (5min from San Luis pass). Either Sunday or Monday. We'll have to meet up one of these weekends.

3:00 HAD ME DYING!! I could imagine the ski leaving your hands, up in the air looking back at you like, "bruh.. thought you were gunna sssend it" really quietly and with a super hard lisp.

Lol! Yea I get kinda nervous on any air that feels weird. I scraped my shin to the bone back with the nozzle in '06 on an XPL in the same surf. Got 8 internal stitches and 10 external.

It may just be me, but the surf doesn't get as big as it used to in the Corpus area. I rode when Hurricane Dean was in the Bay of Campeche and that was crazy.
