2018 SJ Turning Mods

I have a stock 2018 SJ. Any simple mods to loosen up the turning? We want the rear to be able break free and slide, if possible. Any rideplate recos?

Most mods will actually tighten up the Turning even more and make it stick to water even harder. I find the factory plate the loosest. The 08+ superjets are designed to tracker hard than the previous years and handle more like a race ski vs a freeride ski.

You could run 08 and older steering parts to increase the steering nozzle throw but aftermarket ride plate and intake grate will only make it stick to the water harder.

I can't remember if the stock ride plate extends beyond the hull on these years but if so you could remove it, cut it flush with the hull, sand the edge smooth and reinstall. This would definetly make it break loose easier.

Worste case if you dont like it a stock ride plate can be had for cheap

@Rdrttoy can hook you up
With a little bracket that will help with the steering throw if he still has em. And grab a stock rideplate to flush cut or d cut. Start with that. I did the whole pre 08 cable among other things and it’s much better than it was out of the box

I'll second this, I just bought the bracket adapter and it was the quickest and easiest solution to change the steering vs replacing with a 96-07 cable, etc.
