looking to buy a scupper.

are the carbon faced ones a newer style than the aluminum faced ones? (the part on the flapper)

do the carbon ones not have a metal piece that goes behind the flapper liek the older ones?

The inner ring that you are talking about was an additional part that helped with the sealing of the scupper when installing it so that you didn't have to pay close attention to the hull prep. Darin (superjett) made his sealing ring with an old CD.

I like the looks of the carbon ones but If you are looking to buy one (like I am) I heard that there was a magnetic one out there that sealed better??

o ok, i thought the cd was just to get the pvc flush with the hull.

if you look at the WCF site on his package boat it says " custom dual *magnetic* Xmetal scuppers"

but i have never heard any one buying just the magnetic scuppers, unless they are all like that and it doesn't say it on the site.

when im gonna do my tube im gonna add a lowes sump pump valve in line as another part to stop water.

I have one exactly like Mikes(Mile) above and then one that looks like this with a recessed area on the back of the ring where the rubber sits and the plate sits.. I think this is a newer design but not the newest?!?

I think Darin used the CD because he didn't have the ring so he used the CD to make the hull perfectly flat to get a good seal. That is what I ment in the other post sorry I didn't get it across better.

I wouldn't do a sump valve in line. That valve can't flow as much water as the scupper alone. If you want a water tight seal then you can put a threaded piece of pipe on the inside and carry a screw in plug to cap it off when you want it to sit.

I was also thinking about that Monster scupper Can't remember where I seen it but the scupper sits in side the hull a little then you could get a sewer test plug to tighten in the hole when you want to cap it off.

This is for extended periods of time for just sitting at the lake for a 20 minute break and talk then the scupper alone works good.

tha valve i have seen is really easy to open. i think it will be fine. it almost sits a 1/4 open on horizontal. but when the pressure is behind it it closes right up. any ways with 2 bilge pumps i don't think water will be a problem

did darin leave the cd there and trim to fit behind the scupper and the opening or did he take it off after he was done and just got the surface flush?

He will chime in here some time but he used 5200 or something that is kinda rubbery and ground the hull down so that there was a little gap then filled it with that stuff and used the CD to make it flat so that the rubber of the scupper will seal better to the adheasive. I have thought about making one of my own by using a huge washer and a piece of rubber but I think I am just leaving it to the Pros....

Since your refoaming are you putting the scupper pickup at the bottom under the drive shaft? and using PVC elebows to get the water to the back.

Heck If I was refoaming-- And when I refoam I will put 2 sump valves and dump it out in to the pump cavity on both sides. Like the pictures of Pardaddys. I would start it under the drive shaft and run it to the pump cavity and leave it there. The scupper on the outside of the check valves keeps water from blowing it out in a rear landing but in the pump cavity you wouldn't have to worry about it.

I just installed a check valve under the drive shaft and dumped it out the side of my sons 300. Here are a few pictures

I did the 3M seal because it works better than the 'quick install ring' that Maros used to sell. It takes more time and effort, but worth it to me.

The onlt bad thing I can say about the carbon faced valve is that the carbon gets some little grooves worn into it from maxing out on the outer ring when it's opened. It certainly doesn't effect the working of the scupper, but you know?
