I don't know if anyone here has heard of this new bill that's being pushed "HR3999" Its supposed purpose is to ban bump fire rifles, but is worded so vaguely it could effect all semi automatic firearms...

Not sure how effective these petitions are but... https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/do-not-pass-hr3999

I understand why people want it ban, it’s a cheaters tool. But it’s purpose is to re create that full auto feel. It’s a terrible item to use for any type of sharps shooting, you can’t hit anything. It was never intended for killing unlike people think. It’s an awful tool for anything other than fun. And the fact he actually used one just shows he was an awful person and had no idea what he was doing other than trying to get a few hits. If he knew what he was doing he would of used a regular stock. I personally don’t think it should be ban because it’s just a have fun and waste ammo item, it’s not lethal in any way

Honestly, there is no need in them being allowed to be sold in this day and age..........Granted, with a strong finger and high capacity clip you could fire just about as fast and more accurate.

This isn't just a ban on bump stocks, as far as I'm concerned bump stocks are useless and just a way to blow money faster. This is a ban on anything that "increases the rate of fire" on any semi auto, the wording is too vague.. So for example a lighter trigger can increase your "rate of fire", a new buffer tube, a lightweight BCG, your thumb you can stick in your belt loop to "sim" a bump fire stock... Also there is no grandfathering so any of your old equipment will be deemed illegal.

The rate of fire is dependent on your guns recoil and you can’t even talk accuracy with these stocks. I’ve stood 40 ft from a 4by4 target and didn’t hit poop. It was fun and exciting just to have that feel but for an actual purpose it worthless. No need to be ban, the only reason it’s being considered is because of people that have 0 knowledge of guns and being in a high media position to put hate on something they don’t understand.

Guys, the bill isn't about bump stocks, Its anything that can "increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle" so it could literally be anything that makes your weapon "shoot faster"

I agree. The wording is too vague and leaves the door open for future abuses of firearms owners.

1.

Prohibition on manufacture, possession, or transfer of any part or combination of parts that is designed and functions to increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle but does not convert the semiautomatic rifle into a machinegun

This specifically list RIFLE. I read this as "a part that will increase the rate of fire". Does modifying the trigger increase the rate of fire or just make the trigger pull easier? I read this to be any item that would mimick the same effects of the bump stocks........... something that makes the semiautomatic a "Rapid Firing" rifle.

Alot of aftermarket triggers will reduce the pounds of force required to pull them back, as well as reduce the length the trigger travels before it fires.. technically this increases the rate of fire in a semi automatic rifle. And a technicalitie is what put people in prison for using a pistol arm brace as a stock. "According to the ATF"
