2nd broken lanyard in 1month

i keep having the same problem with my lanyard getting caught and breaking the cord.

i use a clip style lanyard always attached to my vest. when i do hood tricks (especially riding backwards) the cord gets caught under the chinpad. if/when i fall or try to dismount the cord stays stuck, breaks off and the lanyard stays engaged. now i'm chasing a runaway ski!!

does anyone else have the same problem? any solutions? i'm sure if i ride with a bracelet style lanyard (much prefer clip style though) the chances of this happening are less. but i've seen it happen nonetheless (today for example).

well
here is the craziest idea you will ever here
but
in the older style ski's the did not have lanyards and they actually circle around and come back to you and pickup the rider
I think this was accomplished by 2 led plates put on one side in the front of the ski glued to the hull next to the gas tank
I believe this because working on my ski (that comes back around) I noticed these plates

Why not add a couple of plates and cut the lanyard off
then you will be free from the lanyard and you can do all the trick you want
and when you bail it will just come back and get you

Yep my sx does this , be careful to keep the idle speed down as the higher the revs the bigger the circle back to you , i learnt this the hard way lol

RN does this already without having to add the weight!! circle is quite large though. sometimes easily 8-12 skis in the area when we ride, runaway ski doing huge "come back circle" is a not ideal.:nono:

Just turn your idle down so it will die when you fall off.

might try this, i think idle is set too high anyways, its a a hard swim catching up to the ski

If your gonna do hood tricks, remove the lanyard from your vest and wrap around the bars.

i think i'll try a combiniation of turning down my idle and wrapping the lanyard around the bars when on the hood. that way when riding normal i can still benefit from the functionality of the lanyard. that will help also when anyone else (aka newbie friends) want to try and ride :fing02:

If you turn the idle down, when you do a transition and your hand comes off the throttle the ski will die........

you said
you had to chase a runaway ski
and
you said you ride with 8-12 skies in the area

well why not just turn down the idle (a little bit) and have the 8-12 people (that are riding those ski's) just help you get back to it
