300 SX is shocking me while I ride/touch fiberglass

I bought a seemingly mint SX 300 last fall for my kids to try this summer. Didn't test it in water, just the usual compression test, started it etc. Put it in the lake today, started it, it runs pretty nicely, joked with my pal whether it will get me out of the water, how easy it is to hold while standing etc. Let it warm up a bit and pinned it and jumped on, it does get me up, was just getting used to it, oversteered, corrected, slid my foot all the way forward in the tray, and started getting shocked where my toes touched the fiberglass to the rhythm of the spark plug. It started to labour, I was close to the beach so jumped off. Tried to get it to run in the shallows and found that if I touch the fiberglass and have my feet not touching the lake bed I get shocked, if I'm on the turf I do not. Now that it is wet it runs like crap when I can get it to start. Any help would be appreciated.

Just checked, good compression, no spark, will dig deeper when I have time, too bad you find these issues when it's time to be using it!

Took apart the ebox, when it came loose from the firewall I could hear parts rattling, one of the bolts that holds a couple wires and the voltage regulator was right out, and a couple were loose. Tightened everything back up, and we have spark again, nice to have an easy fix. Now I have to get the carb setup again after I was tweaking things in the water. Maybe get it in the lake today. The kawi ebox, on this one anyway has screws that tighten it together and to the firewall all at once, doesn't seem that great, but it was dry and not corroded like it had been wet before.
