Got the pump aligned and mounted. 144 pump with a hooker. Decided to put the RNSJ pole on, thought it looked ok and keeps the build cheap. The pole was reinforced on the inside and I put button head bolts where the rivets were, seems really strong now and the bracket will be the weak link. Been working on getting the waterbox to fit, route cables, gGflex'd and glassed a couple extra tie downs for the tank/waterbox to help keep everything locked down. Bilge pump is also wired in. Getting close.
300.JPG I gonna hate putting MC numbers on!

My best friend that helped me wet out yards upon yards of glass was born on Christmas, that's his signature lol. and my initials happen to be PJS.

Should have time to finish it up tomorrow. Not liking the waterbox situation, need a fab guy to narrow a good box down and be done with it. its tight

Ran it at the lake yesterday for a little bit. Had a few rubbing issues. Waterbox is getting 1.5" removed from it, and plan to mill the exhaust manifold down a little bit to help with chamber clearance along the side of the hull. Hope to have the tweaks done so I can bring it to wave rave. From what little time I rode, it seems like it handles well, nose pops out of the water nice, but still has a narrow 550 type feel to it. I like it.

let us know how you like it. I have been wanting to do one but no one ever finishing one to tell us how it is. I wonder if you can flat water flip it?

How many layers of what weight glass did you use?

depends on the location and if I built up on factory smc. Generally, in spots that I built up my own shape (like the pump and the nose) I used 3 layers of 1708 biax and laid it in 45 and 90deg to each layer... and one layer of 5oz weave for a smoother finish. I think I did 4 on the bottom up by the nose and under the tank/waterbox; 1 layer to set the shape and built up 3 more layers for thickness, same with the rear where I shortened it. The sides where I built up on factory smc, I did 1 strip 5" wide all along the bond lines, then a full sheet of 1708, then carbon to purdy it up.

other updates: milling down the exhaust chamber gave me the needed clearance between the hull and chamber. Cut another 1.5" out of the waterbox to narrow it down worked as well; no rubbing issues now. Then ran a cooling line to it to quite it down a bit. Also put my mag pump in it and added trim, which works awesome on this ski. I know for a fact anyone with more skill than me could flip it. I was having to much fun on my Air Blair hull this summer, so I didn't ride it as much as I should have...rode a lot of surf this year. The wetjet motor lacks on the bottom end more than I had hoped, but I can work with it...I like the motor because it came from Kevin Bruin's; so it'll stay. Some pump pieces came from Bruin's and I put Bruin's custom turnplate and bars on it that he was making back in the day. Kind of a tribute ski to him, I think he would approve :)

Rode his 300 a bunch and now I have one too haha

Damn you Phil, you are a bad influence on my ski addiction!

Glad I don't have to go through all the work you did
