The "huge" ride zone was not only safer, but much needed this year! In the past 4 years I've never seen this event take-up sooooo much beach. Haven't heard how many registered riders yet, but it was big.
It would have been pure mayhem w/o the expanded ride zone!

who was the coucher on the silver XP that nearly landed on a red squarenose and its rider? he had 2 couches (orange one on the trailer) and was at the south end. beach patrol gave him the boot.

I talked to him... he was actually very nice and said he would have a standup by next year...
I did not hear about him landing on anyone. Did you see that or hear it???

I did see a guy do a "full rotation" BR on a sit-down ski. Not a blaster, but can't say what it was.

He was out there when I was riding. He never came near me, or anyone that I saw. I just watched for him when I was coming in so I wouldnt get landed on. That dude was getting some huge air on that xp.
WHy did the beach patrol give him the boot??

he nearly landed on someone with a red SN.... VERY nearly. he was getting very big air with it though. problem is, he had to haul ass in order to do it. the look on the SN rider's face, with the brown cloud in the water behind him, was a site though.

1ST off, I agree on the current policy of the freeride, NO SITDOWNS....
ok skidog is my friend (I think, dom is that you pretending to be someone else)
he would be the guy with the red sitdown you all seem to know and luv. This year he brought a blue couch and a blaster. He didnt ride the Blaster, he never does. When I met him years ago, He had a RN. And yes he can ride one. There is a f'in good reason (nonya bizness) why he doesnt anymore and He respectfully stayed on the south end, not even really in the ride zone!
The silver xp is our friend too. As far as him getting a stand up....HAHAHA lol-aint gonna happen. Him on a pole ski is like...me on a sit down ( but, I really, REALLLY wish he would tho ). Anyhows I have ridden my 550's, fx-1's and now, my sx-r's on perfectly huge hurricane generated surf, on several occasions, since that 96 silver xp was new with these guys, and they have earned my trust, which few on PWC have. As far as the XP hitting someone, I bet it was the other way around. I can think of no other rider I trust more to ride with in the surf. He knew where he and every one else was at all times.
I agree on the current policy of the freeride, NO SITDOWNS....If they were allowed than every idiot on their couch and their clueless riding ways would clearly jeopardize everyones safety and ultimately the event itself. However I can assure you these guys are not part of that clueless couch crowd. The silver XP tied Stoyer in freestyle at the 09 MB races, not an ez task on a couch. Stoyer was so impressed he had to ride the XP in his next moto. NevertheLess-I told them b4 coming to the freeride, they would be the only sitdowners there, and I would have to hide my head in shame around them. Told xp he needed to stay on the end like skidog, but he didnt listen. So some one whined to someone, and next thing you know, beach nazis are tellin' him he has to cease and desist all PWC activities. I was lovin it... in a told you so sort of way! Well he was mad and made a big stink 'bout it up and down the beach. Ultimately the head honcho nazi in charge of the beach said it was his decision to make, and that he was OK to ride! but, out of respect for the Daytona freeride people, I helped pull his crappy couch outta the water and we enjoyed the rest of the week! Dom, what the hell did you do in previous years to earn such a backlashing. Get over it and buy another stand up, but ride it this time, emmmK!

My name is Dan , I have a PWC shop in SC. I try to participate in any pwc event that fits my likeness. about the sitdown AKA "couch" ride of choice (just like women cars yea ya know wtf) somethings you just like. I went to the Datona free ride in 07 and rode. NO big deal. missed couple years due to snowboarding, go to event in 2010, couch bashers?? WTF its not like i brought my LRV, if i pissed in anyones cereal my bad!! Ha Ha !!
Somebody said i almost hit someone, sorry if i scared anyone out there, if it was that close im sure i almost sh@t myself.If u put 30 guys at lolipops w 60 girls whats the odds of getting a little close to sombody, DAMIT U STOLED MY WAVE THAT WAS MINE!!!!!! Sorry SN Red ?? @ one point i think there was alot of people riding all at the same time , did u not see the size of those waves, come on tell me u didnt want a piece of those waves.All respect to anyone in the water
Dont be a hater on me for getting up in the middle of all the attention and going big, real big Yea its a sea-doo and i did throw a couple of rolls and BIG AIR. Hope to return w bf w new orange boat next year.
