43 pop off

Picked up a 90 - 650sx that runs pretty well, have intermittent starting issues needing to use primer to start but once running is fine.

Checked pop off and it's clean popping 43psi each time. That sound too high?

Stock 650sx with 34mm keihin CDK

Opened and cleaned carb and fuel pump, and the rebuild kit that was used only had 1 spring with it.

The original had been cut so I didn't wanna re use.

What is the general consensus for pop of # setting on a stock 1990? I've seen a few posts say 10-12 others in the 20 area

I don't know the stock popoff but I doubt it is 10-12. Popoff that low is usually for oversized carbs with AM intakes that have very little restriction. Stock on a superjet is 50ish. I think I have my superjet about 40. I had dual 44s on my 750 X2 and was still in the 30s.

This carb has an aftermarket k&n intake filter. Sometimes has hard starting unless using primer but after running it's fine. Reeds are good so I don't know what else it could be. 43 seems too high though

I agree, sounds very high for a F/A with choke removed. If it were mine I'd drop 10 psi and see what happens.
