300/440/550 440 problem..

Hey everyone
Well after putting hours of work into my 440 i put it in the water and went for a test ride..
When i am building up speed, it feels like a clutch slipping... It has power than starts goin faster and then it feels like the jet just stops and the motor revs out then it grabs again and does it all over again..
so i got in the water and held the throttle at full and held onto it and it didnt seem to slip???
What is my problem here.. i was maybe thinking that the jet shaft teeth are stuffed??
any help is good, Thanks

If it's a 440 driveline, then there are no teeth to speak of other than the couplers in the engine compartment.

More than likely you have an air leak to the pump going from the back side to the intake of the jet pump. It needs to be sealed pretty well with silicone.

yer its got a full 550 jet system in it... i had to put a hole new hose into it, the pipe that the water gets pushed up from the jet...
What is it that i need to seal up?? thanks so much for the help

the pump should only be able to suck water from the intake grate area, the pump has to be sealed to the hull all the way around to prevent air being sucked in from the back section where the nozzle is.
