I'm trying to figure out if I should put 44mm carbs on my 701. So far I have bpipe mod chamber. Msd ignition, greater performance girdled head 175 psi , a/m flame arresters prop , pump stuffer top loader intake grate, v force3 reeds. hummmm I think that's it...... are 44's gonna help or hinder me.

there are lots to choose from , Paul lehr performance aka LPW is where mine is from , Xscream , jet maniac, thrust , zforce, and the list goes on these guys are all top notch and there are more I haven't listed , lpw answers my questions via text almost instantly even stupid questions i have , xscream has been excellent via email and are great with help any time via phone email during bussiness hours .

What prop are you running? What nozzle bore?

It may be all you need if you are not dialed in there.

I like stock porting with 38's and 195psi....and if the pump is right I can't feel a difference with porting or 44's...except that it annihilates your gasoline!

IMHO...

Start a new thread. I hate em. It takes a lot of BS to make them pop...for my style of riding anyway...decking, porting, custom domes bla bla bla...

I F'ing HATED mine.....my 718 non ported 195psi with 38's properly pumped 61x hits as good as properly set up 62t's I have ridden....or close enough anyways....

Upgrading from stock 38's to stock 44's won't yeild much improvement, well set-up 38's aren't bad but if your wanting to upgrade find a set of nice AM carbs(blackjacks, novi, fullspec). Sounds like your dropping some coin in that motor so might as well feed it properly. It's always finding the right combo of parts for your boat, what works for some may not work for others but unfortunately that road is usually an expensive one.

38s all day. I've had 3 fully built SJs 701. All ported, piped with all the bolt ons. Group K and Protec. Tried 44s and hated them. Plus they didnt hit as hard and guzzled gas. But other members might think differently. Just my opinion.
