44mm carbs on a 701

so cal
So the solas mag pump stator for around $400 is a good upgrade? Also has anyone tried this TBM_Racing_Yamah_4a49bca5b27fa.jpg. I'm just curious? If this works as good

Going from 6 to 12 vien is a great improvement, the 400$ solas's are a great bang for the buck mod, not sure what the optimal set back is but I put one in my 95 and its awesome!

I could tell the difference the solas mag made with my machine just idling on the trailer. I'd recommend one to anyone sportin a stocker.

It just seemed to me that it was producing more thrust. I kinda forgot to mention that at the same time I also installed a hooker 9/15. This is just my opinion so take it for what it's worth. Isn't this thread about carbs anyways?

Don't confuse cut back with set back. Cutting back the prop is done to get the blades closer to the vanes. Optimal cut back is as close as you can get to the vanes, and then adjusting pitch and such from there.
Setting back is moving the entire stator vane section and prop further to the rear of the pump assembly.

Not confused

You said you set your prop back 3mm. I just think it's a little confusing because set back typically refers to the placement of the vanes and hub within the stator section. By removing that washer behind the pump, the effect is the same as cutting the prop back. And cutting the prop is probably the better solution as that washer is intended to help protect your pump seal...

Cutting prop is better but different washers is a great way to tune and find out exactly how much to cut and that's exactly why I said I wasn't sure what proper PUMP SET BACK was, still not confused
